Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Horton is an 8yr old Scottish Terrier Mix that was discarded his entire life by his owner and when he became sick, they threw him out like trash. He was found with a leash tied up in the downtown TJ area.  I have no words. Please excuse the graphic pictures, but I think you should see what this poor boy has endured.  Horton was found on the streets in horrific condition!!!  We rushed him to the vet and as soon as he was healthy enough for surgery one of his eyes was removed and the other eye treated.  He also might need the other eye removed because not only is he completely blind, but a cataract has also formed, and pressure has built up Help me so I can help Horton  Horton needs a calm foster home with no other dogs.  Even though this sweet senior has endured 8 years of neglect he is still loving and thrives on attention.  Horton is now fully vaccinated, dewormed, neutered and had a dental cleaning.  If you live in San Diego County or surrounding areas have a home with a secured yard and would love to foster or maybe even foster to adopt Horton, then please complete our foster application at www.tlck9rescue.orgVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 12, 2024, 1:44 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Johnny Boy is a one-year-old Tibetan Terrier mix who has come a long way since I rescued him from the San Diego Humane Society's Escondido campus when he was just four months old. At that time, he was extremely scared, and the whole situation was so unfair to him, a mere puppy. One day, I received a frantic phone call from a dog owner who was desperately searching for her lost pet. Through her tears, she explained that Johnny was part of an accidental litter, and she had adopted all the puppies to good families. However, when Johnny's new potential adopters came to meet him on a busy street in Escondido, the environment was overwhelming. Johnny was shaking with fear from the noise of lawn mowers, blowers, and the constant stream of vehicles and motorcycles passing by. To make matters worse, when his owner handed him over to the new family, the husband accidentally dropped him. Johnny, terrified, took off running, and a chase ensued. When they finally caught up to him, he was frozen with fear. Despite this traumatic experience, the new family decided to adopt Johnny, assuring his original owner that they would give him time to decompress and take good care of him. However, when the original owner called to check on Johnny, the new family told her they had put him in the garage because he was too scared and wouldn't come to them. She pleaded with them to give him some time to adjust, and if it didn't work out in a week, she would take him back. Unfortunately, the family refused and blocked her from any communication. Concerned, I asked her for their phone number to inquire about Johnny's well-being and offer assistance. After speaking with the family, I learned that they had already surrendered him to the shelter, and a rescue was supposed to pick him up, though they couldn't provide the name of the rescue. They had barely had Johnny for more than four hours before giving him up to a shelter, a place that would only heighten his fear. Within a few minutes, I received an email from the shelter asking if I would take in a terrified puppy. To my surprise, it was Johnny. They described him as huddled in the corner of his kennel, defecating out of fear. I immediately agreed to take Johnny under my wings and pulled him from the shelter the very next morning. Fast forward, and Johnny Boy has blossomed into the sweetest and kindest soul. It took time for him to decompress at my home, but my dogs showed him that he could trust me. They gave him the courage he needed. He now loves playing with the other dogs and is having the time of his life. I am very impressed with his progress and so happy I took Johnny Boy under my wings. All it took was time for him to know he was safe. Today, Johnny Boy is happy, healthy, and very friendly with people he bonds with and amazing with other friendly dogs, regardless of their size. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He is respectful of the other dogs when eating, doesn't bother them at all, and takes his treats very gently from my hand. I adore his beautiful, sensitive soul. Johnny is kennel trained, very obedient, loves car rides, and enjoys playing with his toys and other dogs. However, he is still afraid of the world outside his home, and he needs continuous confidence building in that area. Johnny Boy needs a calm environment, a loving person to call his own, and another friendly dog he can play and bond with. If you live in San Diego County or surrounding areas, have a home with a yard and a secured fence, and would love to adopt Johnny Boy, please complete our adoption application at tlck9rescue.org.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 8, 2024, 2:26 am
