Introducing Heather!
Heather is a 7-year-old, 10-pound mini poodle with a big heart.
She can be a bit shy at first but is naturally curious. Once she feels comfortable, she’s all wags and joy, ready to greet her person with wiggles and kisses. Heather loves to be held, and she’s content to snuggle in your lap or curl up beside you on the couch or floor. She feels safest when she knows there’s a hand resting on her, offering her that comforting sense of security. No need to pet her constantly—just knowing you’re there enough to make her feel loved. If you leave her behind, she may express her feelings with a bark or a little "rooooo, rooooo, rooooo," earning her the nickname Renny Roo.
She’s still working on potty training, so we’re taking her out regularly to help her get used to going outside. She’s making progress, though she might have the occasional accident. If she doesn’t make it outside, she’ll use pee pads, a blanket, or towel indoors. She’s eager to learn and aims to please. Heather isn’t a fan of leashes, so I usually carry her outside instead—she’s light as a feather.
Heather absolutely adores affection. She’ll be happiest when she’s with her person, whether that’s curled up in her cozy donut bed or snuggled up by your side. She showers you with love and affection when she feels it from you.
Though she’s still figuring out toys, she did have a blast tossing around a sock and dragging it around the house, so she might enjoy a flat slinky stuffed toy.
Heather would thrive in a home where someone is around often, as she has a bit of separation anxiety. She can be quite vocal about it, so apartment living might not be ideal for her. If you do need to leave, she’s comfortable in a large dog crate with her bed, food, water, and plenty of space to move around.
Heather is fostered in the Cincinnati area. Her adoption fee is $300.00.
To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals.
For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible.
We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.
