*Parker would like to formally introduce himself.* He is a seven year old mammal who may appear to be a sheep but, on further inspection, is definitely a dog, albeit a somewhat portly one. Parker is proud to say he is extremely versatile.. Whatever you're doing, he too would like to be doing. If you're eating dinner, he is available for quality control and taste-testing services. If you're having guests over, he will greet them with the confidence and excitement of someone who is sure he has just stumbled on his own surprise party. He believes deeply in fairness and Amendment 87 to the US Constitution, which, he claims, states that all snacks should be shared equally (with him). He does not hold grudges, he does not judge your decisions, and he absolutely does not discriminate between foods. All foods are excellent foods. I came to Big Dog Ranch as a breeder release after spending my whole life in heartbreaking conditions, used over and over for puppies and rarely touched with kindness. I don’t know what it feels like to be part of a family, and I’ve never even had a leash clipped onto me. The world outside my cage is completely new and sometimes scary. It may take me months to understand that hands can be gentle and homes can be safe, but deep down I’m hoping someone will give me the patience and love I’ve never had. With the right person, I know I can finally learn what it means to be more than a number… to be loved.

Ava & Zeus Ava and Zeus were rescued from a shelter in Alabama, where, unfortunately, most county shelters don’t have the resources to care for dogs long-term. Their time was running out, but Big Dog Ranch Rescue stepped in to give them a second chance. Since arriving at the Ranch, Ava and Zeus have received all the medical care, love, and affection they need. They are learning everything they need to grow into happy, loving pups and are now ready to begin the next chapter of their lives — finding forever families who will cherish them and give them the homes they deserve.
