Meet Tramp The cuteness! That smile! How can you resist? Tramp was found as a stray and is now done with his stray hold so he can find a furever home. Tramp is a cute little terrier/poodle mix, with a lot of energy and stamina! Tramp is shy but he will warm up to you once he knows you. He is playful and active so a home where he will have a yard to play in and get a lot of exercise is ideal. He will be neutered soon, and is current on vaccines. If interested in meeting Tramp, please complete an application at jellyslace.org

Story
Riley is a gentle soul and loves to go on walks and to spend time with you. He is the perfect combination of being active and adventurous and yet also loves to curl up and relax at the end of the day. Plus, he's a handsome showstopper with soft luscious locks that appear to be low shedding. Riley loves people and gentle touches and kindness and is affection motivated. While he won't smother you in over-the-top displays of affection, he bonds deeply to his person, is excited and happy to see you with an enthusiastically wagging tail, gives cute snuffles and licks and lays his paws and head on your lap when you're sitting together. Moreso though, playing games of chase is his "love language - he'll play-bow to his person and want to run around with you in the grass. He is confident when taking adventures, including walks through city life. For example, he's content walking through crowds of people and doesn't get overwhelmed. He wants to have playful romps with almost every dog he meets (play bows a lot) and just walks away from aggressive dogs that bark at him. He can be taken many places due to his exceptionally calm and gentle demeanor in public. He is good in elevators, on stairs, in cars, by roads with heavy traffic, etc. He is leash trained; he can tug or get stubborn occasionally because he wants to go exploring but can be redirected, and this would improve with consistent obedience training. He doesn't like spending too much time alone and would be a good fit for active outdoorsy people looking for a constant companion who can provide at least 2 hours of exercise per day. He would also likely benefit greatly from a playful and athletic doggy sibling he can romp around with. He is pretty good in his crate and tolerates it overnight, up to 9 hours. But further crate training would help, as he barks to get out in the morning. Riley will need a patient and experienced dog owner to help him flourish. He is still working on his housetraining; while he is getting better, he will need an adopter who will creatively work with him, beyond the typical dog. Specifically, he appears to stress-pee inside bathrooms and kitchens but will hold his pee outside for many hours! This behavior is non-typical and appears somewhat ingrained as of now. Luckily, he is a very sweet boy who is VERY treat motivated and smart, smart, SMART. He already knows the sit command, which he mastered in about 2 minutes! With consistent, patient, and kind guidance, he will certainly grow the skills he needs to be the perfect pup.

Story
We are incredibly impressed at what a champ Rocco has been overcoming two significant medical issues. He never complains and just accepts the love and various treatments or physical therapy. Rocco is a super cute 3 year old poodle mix from the Napa Shelter euthanasia list. He needed intensive treatment for untreated perianal fistulas that were badly infected. Thankfully he has responded well to antibiotics and a special diet so he won't likely require surgery as long as he keeps it up. He was just about ready for adoption when he suffered a blown disc in his lower back that partially paralyzed him. You can imagine our relief when he began to move his hind legs again and walk short distances after 9 weeks of crate rest. Now it has been 12 weeks since his injury and he no longer needs a wheelchair to move about his foster home or go on short walks! We are optimistic he will continue to gain strength in the coming weeks. For now, Rocco is doing daily stretches to loosen up his stiff legs, swimming with a life vest, and his foster mom treats him to red laser sessions each day (he's got his own at-home laser that will go home with his adopter). He's no longer taking any pain meds and the vet is really impressed by his recovery. He could go home today with the right adopter who doesn't mind continuing to monitor him (with our support). Rocco is looking for a cautious adopter who will understand that he needs to take it easy going forward so he can keep a healthy back for the rest of his life. Using a ramp to get up and down from couches and beds is ideal and jumping down could aggravate his back. A single-level home and/or an adopter with a strong back is best since this little guy shouldn't be climbing stairs. Thankfully he only weighs 15 pounds! This pooch will need to eat a prescription diet for life to ensure his perianal fistulas don't return, so his adopters should keep this in mind as well. WCAL offers TONS of support to our adopters, so if you are on the fence, please email or give us a call to chat. 707-800-5058 or info@WineCountryAnimalLovers.org is a good way to reach our volunteers.
