Story
Ollie is the *best* boy! He is affectionate and eager to be with his people without being a “Velcro dog.” He is housebroken and walks well on a leash. He has excellent house manners. He is just so easy going! Ollie is great with any dog he meets, but he will bark to initiate. He has been perfect with his foster family’s senior chihuahua who initially was not thrilled to be sharing her space. He was gentile and patient and gave her lots space until she warmed up to him. Ollie was hit by a car in rural Virginia. The shelter there did not have the resources to get him the surgeries he needed to fix this broken leg, pelvis and dislocated hip. HART committed to rescue him and cover his surgeries. He is recovering very well from the first surgery. He will likely need one more after he is fully healed. Although Ollie is kid friendly, he still needs a quiet home while he finishes recovering, so he will do best in a home with older kids, for now. Story
Hello everyone! My name is now Cedar. My foster family loves the outdoors and thought the name suited me perfectly. I’m a 2-year-old male Shiba Inu with a big heart and a resilient spirit. I previously lived in two homes, and I was dropped off at a Maryland clinic for my neuter surgery. After my procedure, DC SIR picked me up and welcomed me into foster care. When my foster mom arrived to get me, I went right to her. I trusted her to lift me up and carry me to the car to take me home. I was a little anxious during the ride, especially with the strange cone around my head, but I did my best to relax. Once we arrived, I carefully sniffed around my new home and surroundings. I spotted a doggie door and tried to go through it, but that pesky cone stopped me! Eventually, I made it out to the backyard, where I was able to relieve myself. To keep things low-stress while I recover, my foster mom has left my harness on so it doesn’t have to go on and off too often. I don’t mind it at all. We even went on a short walk. I like to pull a little, but since I just had surgery, we’re keeping things calm and short. I love belly rubs and will happily roll onto my back to ask for more. I’ve had a great appetite and love every bit of food and treats offered to me so far. My first night was peaceful, and I got some needed rest after such a busy day. I’ve met my foster fursister and wasn’t scared of her at all. I’m a sweet, playful, snuggly 30-pound lap dog who gives lots of kisses. If you think your home is the furever home for me, please apply to adopt me. Absolute cuddle bug once he warms up to you. Hesitant with strangers coming into the home so would need to be initially separated until comfortable with new people Location: Extended Dogs: Yes (females) Cats: Yes Kids: No Age: 2 yrs Weight 30 lbs Intake date: 2/24/26 Cedar’s rescue album: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1483520946473598&type=3 Step by step process on how to apply: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgW-CQMpYFY Other ways to follow DC SIR: www.dcsir.org www.facebook.com/dcshibainurescue www.twitter.com/DCShibaRescue www.pinterest.com/dcsir/ www.YouTube.com/DCShibaInuRescue www.instagram.com/dcshibainurescue
