Story
Newman is a 4-year-old Pomeranian with a big personality and a tender heart, though life hasn’t always been kind to him. He’s incredibly attached to the women in his life and has a special bond with his current foster mom. However, Newman struggles with fear and anxiety around men. We suspect Newman’s past may have involved some trauma, possibly at the hands of a man, which could explain his behavior. While he’s made strides in feeling comfortable with certain male neighbors, he remains very fearful and defensive around others. Because of this, Newman needs an experienced adopter who is patient, understanding, and willing to work with him as he learns to feel safe and secure.
Despite his fear, Newman has many wonderful qualities. He gets along beautifully with other animals, including the family’s dog, four cats, and even a neighbor’s Yorkie! He could thrive in a home with a calm, confident female adopter and possibly another dog to help him feel at ease. Newman’s ideal home would be one where he can have his own space when needed and be given the time and support to overcome his fears at his own pace. He’s a loyal, loving dog deep down, and with the right environment, he has the potential to flourish and form a lifelong bond. If you have the patience and compassion to help Newman on his journey, you’ll be giving this sweet boy the second chance he deserves. https://www.savingsagerescue.org/adoption-application
