Story
Jayla is a 9-year-old Samoyed with a quiet heart and a story that is just beginning to change. For most of her life she lived outside in a kennel with very little exposure to the world, so many everyday things are still brand new to her. When Jayla first arrived she was severely matted and needed to be shaved down, but underneath all that fur was a sweet, sensitive girl ready for a second chance.Over the past few weeks Jayla has been settling into foster care and slowly learning what it means to live inside a home. She’s discovering soft beds, toys, and the comfort of being close to someone she trusts. When Jayla bonds with you, it’s incredibly special—she loves to sit chest-to-chest with her person, gently tucking her nose under your chin, or draping herself across your lap for quiet affection. She also has the cutest little Samoyed howls and enjoys hiding away her toys like tiny treasures.Jayla is still figuring out things like harnesses, leashes, and car rides (which she’s not a big fan of yet). Because much of the world is new to her, she will need very patient, calm, and gentle adopters who can give her the time and space to grow at her own pace. She can be very uncomfortable around men and would do best in a quieter female home environment. For the right person—someone patient, kind, and understanding—Jayla will form a bond that is incredibly deep and loyal. She’s a dog who won’t rush into love, but once she gives you her heart, it’s truly forever. Her meet and greets will need to be scheduled as she is in her foster home learning. She is not at the shelter.
