Story
Ivan turned 2 years old this past May. His favorite past times are staring out the window and sleeping. He will curl up and go to sleep on your lap when you are sitting on a couch or recliner and will stay there as long as you do. He enjoys head, neck and back scratches but you need his permission to scratch his belly! And if that permission is granted, there may be a time limit he does not mention. lol He enjoys running and playing with his toys and acts like a tough guy when he sees an animal outside (squirrels, cats, chipmunks) but with an open door to the outside world he just sits at the door. He is 100% an inside cat.

Not good with cats,
Story
Grey Cat was rescued during TNR. We originally thought she was feral, but discovered she actually likes pets! She will get in bed with you & make the greatest biscuits. She likes to follow her foster around & also play in her water dish. She was originally hissing & we discovered she is just afraid or does not like other cats. She needs to be the only cat to make her life happy.

Good with cats,
Story
Martha was rescued in what we thought would be a TNR (trap, neuter, return) operation after being found in a hoarding situation, but we quickly realized that she is completely tame! We're still learning about her personality, but we do know that she does well with other cats having grown up around so many.

Story
Esme is a beautiful, sweet Russian blue mix. Photos simply don't do her justice. She was rescued from a hoarding situation (a mobile home with 40+ cats inside) and was already a young mom at about 9 months old. She took good care of her 3 kittens (gray like her) but as soon as they were weaned she was ready to be a kitten again herself. She can be wildly playful, but also enjoys looking at the window at the world. She probably didn’t eat well or often in the past, which can happen in situations where there are lots of cats and not enough food), so she can be nervous about getting enough to eat. But she’s been nothing but sweet and loving to her foster family. After her kittens were adopted, she became close with other kittens in the house - showing them the ropes and bathing them as needed. She has a lovely voice that she uses often to locate her furry friends and humans. She would also be fine as an only cat in a home where she can get lots of attention and introduced to toys and interactive play.  We think she’d be fine other cats following a proper introduction, unsure about dogs. Esme is negative for feline leukemia and aids, current on her distemper and the vaccines, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked and spayed.  If interested in this cutie pie, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net. We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. The majority of our cats and kittens come from high kill shelters. Through our application and interview process, we strive to make the 'purrfect' match to insure a loving, lifelong home for those in our care. We do NOT receive funding from any national organization, federal or state governments.September 3, 2024, 11:37 am

Story
Lulu and Sugar Ray are wonderful short haired Russian Blue mix kittens about 6 months old (DOB about 2/15/24).  They are fun, loving, entertaining littermates.  LuLu is a hoot.  She 'helps' with housework.  She loves to chase the mop and vacuum.  She is afraid of nothing and very outgoing and gregarious.  They LOVE everyone as soon as they meet them.  They are VERY playful and active. They love to play with toys or other cats and are never bored.  They like to be held and to snuggle.  They get along well with cats, and I think they'd be great with dogs and kids.  They are negative for feline leukemia and aids, had all three distemper and the rabies vaccines, been wormed, had advantage for fleas, and been vet checked and spayed.  May be adopted separately or as a pair (discount for two!)  If interested in these cutie pies, please contact Holly at 865-671-4564 or hhfrey1@tds.net  We are a small, private feline-only rescue group dedicated to the rescue, care and placement of homeless cats and kittens. Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi! I’m Peter Pan! I was rescued from an abandoned home along with my mama, Pixie, and sister, Tinkerbell. We were living under a house with our mom. My mama was brave and asked this nice lady to help us! She ran to her car and begged her to come save us too! We are now in a foster home, but we would love to have a forever home! I must be adopted with my sister, TinkerBell. We are the best of friends! I'm a bit more out going than she is, so we even each other out. We will keep each other company! We would do well with other kitties and dogs too! We are both loving and playful. I am a cute little Russian Blue! My sister is fuzzy with big fuzzy tipped ears! Once we get comfortable with you, we just want your attention. We are the sweetest things... EVER!!! If you’re interested in adding me and possibly my sister (last picture) to your family, please let my foster mom know! Love,Peter Pan & Tinkerbell **Due to our size, no small children If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative. ****Puppies and kittens will be fixed when they are 5 months old. When they are adopted younger than 5 months, they MUST be adopted in East Tennessee.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. August 31, 2024, 11:10 pm
