Dexter was found dumped with a very pregnant female dog who soon had 8 babies. We aren't sure he's the daddy, but he loves the mama. He is a big boy that will need structure and someone that can handle training him because he hasn't learned any manners. He is a total sweetheart that was dealt a bad hand in life, but now has a chance to find a wonderful home where he can be the best dog that he can be. He was wonderful potential and needs to be given a chance. He hasn't shown any aggression towards people, and he's met many recently, but seems to be a little more timid around other dogs. Please don't pass up this wonderful pup because he needs some training to be "civilized" because he is a total love. Dexter will need a high fence that he cannot jump or climb; he’s a master escape artist, but with discipline and a watchful eye, he will be just fine. He will be neutered and fully vetted before adoption. He can be cat tested upon request.SGER FAQs:We are a 501c3 non profit rescue.Your information in our application is not shared and is protocol for adoption. Here is the application link. https://shorturl.at/syCM3All of our dogs have age-appropriate vaccinations, if over 6 months old are spayed or neutered, if under 6 months adopter is responsible for having that done between 6 and 10 months of age (we can offer some low cost options for you), microchipped with lifetime free membership, dewormed and will go home with a 3 to 5 day dewormer as well. Any medical conditions known are disclosed to the best of our ability. Adults are hw tested and status is disclosed. Please don't let HW positive dogs deter you. Please ask us and we will gladly explain the slow kill process! If you are out of state or out of area that is not a problem, we do offer relay transport for a small additional fee to cover health certificates required for private interstate travel and additional vetting required. We run solely on donations and house 100 plus dogs and 10 plus horses at any given time. Please be patient but if you do not hear from us within 48 hours of submitting your application please reach out. We are human and we do get very busy sometimes. Adoption fees range from $150 to $400 We do not offer discounts of any kind. Adoption fees are set fees and not negotiable. These fees help with vetting on current and future animals we take in. We do not offer walk through "choose a dog/puppy" type experience. We are partially foster-based, we can help with matching dogs if you have something you have in mind so feel free to call or browse our available dogs at sger.petfinder.com You can meet before adoption but that is ONLY done with approved applicants. Story
Candy is a girl that is shy, but has the sweetest disposition. She gets along with everyone at the rescue and is just a goofy wonderful girl that doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Candy came to us after being found dumped with a male dog (Dexter) and with 11 puppies. Sadly, one puppy had already passed and then the rest slowly died once at the rescue. The vet suspects they had a viral infection that they picked up when out in the woods still. Candy has been doing great since being with us and did everything she could to help her babies. She’s spayed and will never have puppies again so she’s just waiting for her forever family to come along. They’ll need to be kind and patient with her as she learns to trust and know that she’s safe.

Dixie and Britten were transferred in from Glynn County Animal Services. They definitely appear to be Catahoula Leopard mixes. Also, we believe that Dixie is most likely Britten`s mom. We aren`t privy to how they ended up at an animal control facility. We are guessing they were strays. Dixie and Britten have the usual personalities of this breed. Very alert, nose to the ground, taking in all the news and somewhat independent. Catahoulas are a working breed, so it would be a great idea to research them before adopting. Certainly you couldn`t ask for more dedicated, loyal dogs. Dixie and Britten are good with other dogs. Although they won`t win any awards for walking on a leash, they do pretty well. Of course, practice makes perfect! Britten tested heartworm negative on arrival. Dixie tested heartworm positive, and is available as a foster to adopt. She will of course be treated here. Email reception@hsscg.org for an appointment to meet these lovely ladies. Alternatively you can just come on in. We are open 11 to 4 Tuesday through Saturday. Both are spayed, microchipped and current on core vaccines.
