Story
Hi there! I'm Lucy Lyn, your future best friend. I'm a 3.5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix! I have a sweet and friendly nature, always ready to spread joy around me. I wake up each day with a happy-go-lucky attitude, ready to face whatever comes my way. I love to play and make people smile. Why should you adopt me? Well, I believe that every home needs a sprinkle of Lucy Lyn joy.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2203182##

Story
Cinnamon Whiskey is a fun-loving stray that we adopted from the HSPPR. At the time of adopting, we knew that she had lots of energy, but we were prepared to handle it. During her time with us, she received at least two walks every day (morning and evening), we played at the dog park every weekend, and she loved to play fetch at home non-stop. What we were not prepared for was her separation anxiety. It was obvious once she came home for the first time and couldn't bear to leave our side. Whenever we would leave the room, she would follow. And when we would leave the house, we would return to a remorseful pup who had destroyed everything in sight. Cinnamon loves children to a fault, but we often struggled with interactions between her and our 3y/o daughter. She was overly playful with young children, excited nipping and pawing usually ended with tears and a toppled toddler. Cinnamon needs special care for her anxiety and a home free of young children, something we are unable to offer.

Story
Koda is a 3 year old black mouth cur/lab mix. She is energetic, loves attention and to play fetch. She is the perfect dog for someone who is active and likes to run, walk, hike, etc. She does well with other humans and dogs, and has been to the dog park and doggy daycare countless times. She would do well in a home with an active couple with no kids, or someone older looking for a loyal companion. She will do ok with older kids and teens, but not suitable for young kids. She does get along with other dogs, but a perfect situation would be her being the only dog so she can get the full attention and love she needs. She is a good girl and deserves a loving home  *Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, we have reformatted the way that we do adoptions in order to follow social distancing protocols. We are thrilled that so many people want to adopt right now, but we are not equipped to handle the large number of calls, applications, and email inquiries we are receiving. We are no longer answering phone calls and are doing all communications with adopters via email. If you have a dog you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application before sending us emails. When your application has been processed, you will receive an email from us with further instructions on how to adopt. You do not need a new application for every dog that you are interested in adopting.  At MAMCO we understand that in order to continue rescuing moms and babies, we must stretch our finances as far as we are able. For this reason we use variable adoption pricing. By assigning higher adoption fees to high demand moms and puppies, we are able to rescue more families in need. The money raised through these adoptions acts as a benefactor to moms and puppies in our care who require expensive veterinary treatments, have behavioral issues, or need more time to find a home. We often reduce the adoption fees on these harder-to-place moms and puppies to help them find forever families. Adoption fees vary, but all include spay or neuter, microchip, up to date vaccinations and deworming, rabies vaccine at the time of spay or neuter, and 30 days of pet insurance. We also cover hernia repair and cherry eye repair at the time of spay or neuter. Applications can be filled out at mamcorescue.org. ##1045935##
