Story
Hi there! I'm Lucy Lyn, your future best friend. I'm a 3.5 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix! I have a sweet and friendly nature, always ready to spread joy around me. I wake up each day with a happy-go-lucky attitude, ready to face whatever comes my way. I love to play and make people smile. Why should you adopt me? Well, I believe that every home needs a sprinkle of Lucy Lyn joy.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2203182##

Story
Cinnamon Whiskey is a fun-loving stray that we adopted from the HSPPR. At the time of adopting, we knew that she had lots of energy, but we were prepared to handle it. During her time with us, she received at least two walks every day (morning and evening), we played at the dog park every weekend, and she loved to play fetch at home non-stop. What we were not prepared for was her separation anxiety. It was obvious once she came home for the first time and couldn't bear to leave our side. Whenever we would leave the room, she would follow. And when we would leave the house, we would return to a remorseful pup who had destroyed everything in sight. Cinnamon loves children to a fault, but we often struggled with interactions between her and our 3y/o daughter. She was overly playful with young children, excited nipping and pawing usually ended with tears and a toppled toddler. Cinnamon needs special care for her anxiety and a home free of young children, something we are unable to offer.

These pups are in Aurora, Colorado too!

Story
At 10 years young, Kaleesi couldn’t be sweeter or kinder to those she LOVES! Don't let her age fool you, she's an energetic lady! The friendly 55-pound owner surrender, now safe in her foster home, is passionate about her one special person, in this case her foster mom, rolling over for belly rubs and then dancing and prancing about. Kaleesi loves going on walks, improving her leash skills daily, likes games of fetch, chewing bones and playing with squeaky toys and balls. While she gets along well with dogs of all sizes, her prey drive has her chasing cats! But can we all agree that she wins the "Best Smile" award?!! Motivated by food and toys, she currently knows “come, “sit” and “down,” but having missed out on much of her training, she’s extremely intelligent, eager to please and should prove easy to teach. Fully house-trained, and at work on her manners, Kaleesi will thrive in an active home with loving adopters to perfect her manners, complete her training, including her commands, and ensure that her second life is her best paws-ible life. See more photos and videos here!   Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $100. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
