Story
Looks like: Ridgeback/Pit Bull mix Male, 5 years old (estimated), 68 pounds Yes, Prince Charming is quite the ladies' man, and yes, he would really love to meet you! This gentle giant is all tail wags when meeting new people. He gives kisses, knows basic commands and has done well around other dogs at our office. Prince Charming loves going for walks and sniffaris in the yard. Poor Prince came to us with a severe wound on his lower back. Our loving staff took amazing care of him and were able to close his wound so it could heal. Despite his journey, he is so ready to give you all of his love! Prince Charming will make the perfect adventure buddy by day and snuggle buddy by night. He does tend to chase kitties and would probably do best in a home without cats. Prince Charming came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services.

Story
Hey there, I`m Arlo! I might be living in a shelter, but let me tell you, I`m no ordinary pup. I`m a superhero! I ended up here after my daring escape from the clutches of the Evil Vacuum Cleaner. It was a high-energy chase, but my curiosity and independence got the better of me. I outsmarted that noisy beast, but found myself lost. Luckily, the kind folks at the shelter took me in. I`m loyal and energetic, always ready for the next adventure. Adopting me means gaining a loyal sidekick, ready to explore life`s mysteries together!

These pups are in Santa Cruz, California too!

Story
Meet Imogen, the Black Mouth Cur x German Shepherd mix. Imogen previously lived in a home with teenagers, men, women and seniors. In her previous home, she lived with other dogs (relatives to her). Since her arrival at the Shelter, she has met other dogs and created some canine-buddies to explore with. She does well riding in the car. At 36 lbs, Imogen is a great size for an active guardian who is looking for a big personality in a medium package. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
WEIGHT: 55lbs Meet Sprinkles— She has had a tough go of it lately. Sprinkles came to us from a partner shelter where she was dropped off at their front gate in a wire crate. It`s terrible, we know. But honestly, to meet her, you wouldn`t know it. She is so outgoing, spunky, and playful. She is friendly with all people and has a really beautiful and unique look. She`s had mixed reviews of other dogs, so a home with other animals might work providing it was a good match. She`s high energy and would make a great adventure buddy for an active couple or young family. It doesn`t look like she has much experience doing normal dog things, so potential adopters should be prepared to take on some basic positive reinforcement training. Sprinkles recently spent some time in a foster home. Here is what they had to say about her:`Sprinkles is the most loving, cuddly and up for anything dog you can meet. She loves people and walks! She is well behaved, but consider puppy age, she can be a bit mischievous (shoe stealing and counter inspecting especially). She is super smart and eager to learn/please (I taught her enchanté - hand down and she gives you a paw like a high five but then she gives your hand a kiss), very treat/food motivated. A little bit of separation anxiety but I think if she were in a place long enough, she`d be okay, when she knows she`s home. Does well on lead, pulls when she sees something she wants or something that scares her. She`s a little timid about random things, the donkey statue in my backyard freaked her out and a kayak in the Harbor scared her, but she is easily comforted and not aggressive at all. We spent a lot of time outside so I can`t say 100% that she`s potty trained but that would be a very easy training. She`s extremely cuddly and wants to be with you. You can tell she`s been through a lot, but she doesn`t show it at all. She`s still got that mischievous puppy nature about her, and she would definitely make a great adventure companion for someone.`If you’d like to meet her, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
