Background: A wonderful woman rescued these sweet girls when she learned that their owner had died and they had been taken to a high-kill shelter and separated. They were on top of the list to be put down. The woman swept them out of there and took them to the vet. They had lost a lot of weight while at the shelter due to being separated and in a terrible environment there. ? Now: She says, "The vet thought that they were very sweet & she agrees that they are definitely bonded and can’t be separated. They DO NOT LIKE CATS OR SQUIRRELS OR LITTLE DOGS. They’ve been great when I take them for walks. I do not know if they’ve been socialized with other big dogs. When dogs bark at them while we’re walking they don’t bark back. I would appreciate it if you could spread the word, these sweet dogs deserve to live peacefully together in their senior years. Dolly and Pinky may be seniors, born 2016, but they have lots of energy and love to give. Although they may be unsure about other dogs, they are wonderful together and will stick close to your side. Meet our sweet, beautiful girl Arya! She is approximately 6 years old and 68 lbs of pure love! Arya is super sweet, very affectionate, mellow, smart, and funny. She is the goodest girl who will do anything for a yummy treat! She absolutely loves her belly rubs and can often be found on her back, legs stretched out, waiting for her pets! She needs a little bit of time to warm up to a new environment or person, but once she gets comfortable, she will shower you with so much affection every day, everywhere. Arya was rescued from the Carson Animal Shelter (LA county kill shelter) where she was put on the euthanasia list after 3 months at the shelter. She has been in a foster home since leaving the shelter in late December. Here’s how to describe this sweet pea: - Walks great on leash (loves going on walks) - Non-reactive to other dogs on walks - Easy to train as she’s super food motivated (food will make her do anything ?) - Smart and picks up new tricks/toys quickly - Crate and house trained - Loves to spend time with her human. She’ll be happy just sitting next to you - Very good in the car - Very good with brushing teeth, cleaning ears, shower - Loves belly rubs and pets - Loves squeaky toys - Good with other calm large dogs - She takes a daily anti-inflammatory for her minor arthritis but has no problem going on walks and living a happy life! :) As Arya needs a little bit of time to warm up, an adults-only home is recommended.
