Story
Piper was the main character in the show Orange is the New Black…not that we`re comparing kennel life to prison life. I mean sure, there are some similarities… you spend most of your time indoors with a couple of daily exercise breaks, you don`t get to choose your roommate, and the food can be a bit monotonous. But, you don`t have to wear orange! In fact most of the inmates don`t wear any clothes at all, because, you know… they`re dogs. Also, you don`t have to break the law to end up in the shelter- Piper certainly didn`t! To top it all off, Piper can leave anytime- she just needs to find a family first! #FreePiperPiper was originally adopted through a rescue group and was in a home for about a year and half before first coming to the shelter in 2022. She was housebroken in that home and would politely bork when she needed to be let out to do her business. She slept at the foot of her people`s bed and they told us that she loves attention, and to run and play fetch. Her only request is that she not be disturbed while sleeping- a girl needs her beauty rest!! Piper was adopted, but her family is moving so she’s back on the search for her happily ever after. In her most recent home, she was described as affectionate, playful, friendly and cuddly. She was also housebroken and crate trained and reportedly did well with kids.Piper has been social, tolerant, and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She may do best in a home without small dogs. Ask to meet Piper today!!

Story
CENSUS DEADLINE 5PM 12/10/24Name: SandyAnimal ID: A820935Age: 3 years Weight: 57 lbs. About: Sandy is an energetic, happy young dog who is looking for his forever home. He spent close to a year in a foster home before returning to the shelter and we learned the following:- He lived with another dog and did great - He was housebroken - He is an active, playful pup who will benefit from training and structure - He is well- behaved when left home alone, snoozing the day away- He is smart, alert, and curious - He is sweet and loves to be with his people- He loves toys- He loves to runSandy will thrive in an active household with owners who can provide him with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. He`s a smart and eager-to-please dog who will benefit from training and positive reinforcement. Here’s what one volunteer at the shelter said:“I have a thing for brown dogs and Sandy fits the bill. He is the whole package in my eyes. We walk in the desert together, with no pulling or jumpiness. I find him to be such a nice walker. He turns to me now and then looking for a treat, but I tell him to keep walking and he continues on. I haven`t seen any reactivity or mouthiness from him any time I have had him out. He`s actually one of the most enjoyable walks of my night. I find Sandy to be an awesome companion and thoroughly enjoy any time I can spend with him.”While Sandy can be good with other dogs his size and larger, he has a high prey drive and should not be in a home with cats or small animals. He`s also prone to destructive behavior when bored or stressed, so crate training and plenty of enrichment are essential. Due to an old fracture from when he first came to the shelter, Sandy will need joint supplements to keep him comfortable for life. Sandy is a wonderful dog who deserves a loving and patient family. Please ask about how you can help Sandy! Available for foster care or adoption through PACC.Adoption Process:Interested parties:• Must visit PACC before the 5:00 PM December 10, 2024, deadline to meet with an adoption or foster counselor who will go over notes and then introduce you to ensure that it’s a good fit.

Story
The Life of Riley was an American radio comedy series in the 1940s that was adapted into a movie and two different TV shows. If there were to be a movie or TV show about the life of our Riley, she hopes that it would center around her days in a loving home rather than the shelter. That’s where you come in! Riley spent five months in a great foster home- here’s what we learned:- Riley did great with young kids! She loved them, loved to play with them, and knew not to jump on them (though she would sometimes knock the baby over with her wiggly boxer rear end).- She is energetic and thrives with regular exercise.- She is housebroken and crate trained - She is cuddly and friendly - She’ll thrive in an active home where she gets lots of attention and loveRiley also did great on a field trip away from the shelter and was described as loving, gentle and playful:“Riley is the greatest! She was so excited about everything and great on leash. She completely ignored all other dogs. She loved treats, cheese and pup cups. She loved riding in the car and wanted to climb in the front seat and the very back. She loves snuggles and pets. She seemed social and wanted to say `hi` to people we saw.”Riley shares her kennel with another PACC pup and has been playful and social when meeting other dogs in playgroup. Ask to meet Riley today!

Story
If you don’t love to snuggle and aren’t interested in a best friend who will stick by your side through thick and thin, then move along. But really… who doesn’t want those things!? And our perfect Buddy Boy has all that to offer and more!! Before coming to the shelter, Buddy Boy lived in one home for over three years. He reportedly did well with kiddos and with other large dogs, but will likely do best in a home without small dogs or other small pets. Buddy Boy’s former family described him as playful and affectionate and said that he was housebroken in their home. “Buddy Boy has been good with the children, is good on car rides, and loves to chew sticks. He knows sit and stay, loves to have his belly rubbed, and is scared of thunderstorms.”This big softie also has tons of fans at the shelter- here’s what some of them have said:“Buddy Boy leashed up nicely. He pulled a bit going out, but once he did his business, he settled down into a nice walk. Very sweet boy and takes treats gently.”“Buddy Boy is a gentle sweetheart and I love taking him and his kennelmate to the yard. He`s attentive and looks back to me often. He has the best ears and he gives loving eye contact.”“I adore Buddy Boy- he is definitely one of my favorites! He is sweet and loving and wants nothing more than snuggles and attention from his human friends. Such a sweetheart!!”Buddy Boy shares his kennel with another PACC pup and has been playful when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit. Ask to meet Buddy Boy today!!

Story
Peaches is a 7-year-old pup who’s mastered the art of balance: part adventure-buddy, part professional napper. She’s equally happy going for walks, runs, or backyard toy chases (fetch is still a work in progress) as she is flopping onto the couch for some quality cuddle time.Peaches loves people of all ages, but would be best with older kids who can recognize when she needs a little personal space. She can be a bit shy around new faces at first but quickly warms up with some reassurance from her person. She is perfectly housebroken however and is a quiet and very polite houseguest with her foster. This quirky girl has a few standout moves that are guaranteed to make you smile, like flopping onto her back with her favorite toy or turning into a full-blown wiggle machine when you come home. She’s a treat enthusiast (her Kong is a favorite!) and a perfect mix of busy bee and couch potato. While Peaches doesn’t know many commands just yet, she’s a quick learner and understands when she’s invited to share the bed or politely asked to hop off. If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who’ll join you for adventures and movie marathons alike, Peaches is your girl! Here is an update from her foster home: “Peaches, also known as Miss Peach, has made incredible progress in our home. When she first met us, she was a bit shy and liked to keep to herself. Now, she has no fear asking for snuggles or sharing her sense of humor. She is an active girl who loves to chase after toys, play tug of war, and go for daily walks or runs. For a 7 year old, she definitely has some pep in her step! She is the absolute perfect mix between a certified snuggle buddy and accountability partner who will keep you on track with getting your steps in. Peaches favorite place in the world is the park. We visit almost daily so she can get her sniffs in. Though she she prefers to be the only dog, she likes to mind her own business and is easy to direct to a clear path when other pups come near. All she needs is a friend who has her back and can help her steer clear of incoming dogs! Peaches has brought so much joy, laughter, and love into our lives. She had that doggy intuition of when you may need some extra love after a hard day or a big helping of laughter. We absolutely adore her, and know you will too”
