Story
Meet Cledus! Age: senior Weight: 55 pounds, but I'm working on gaining weight in a healthy manner House trained: yes- but will benefit from a belly band in the first couple days in a new environment. Crate trained: yes- I happily go in my crate with just a few snack-o's Good with: Dogs of all sizes (I basically ignore small dogs and will play with other large dogs), cats unknown, older kids who can help me become my best self! Requirements: at least a 5ft fenced-in yard. I'm a hound dog and like to sniff and follow my nose, so having a secured yard will keep me safe! I love being outside, and since I was a stray for a period of time, that's where I feel comfortable. I come to you from the south, and many times, dogs like me live outside all the time, so it's no wonder I like being out there. My first experience as a family dog was likely when I got rescued! Can you believe it? A handsome guy like me, not a family dog! Well, it's all changed and I'm learning what inside life is like! Just the other day I got up on the bed to sit with the other dogs for the first time. I think the smells in the kitchen are glorious, and sometimes I just want to see where the smell is coming from so I put my paws on the counter. I am learning that's not a wanted behavior when foster mom tells me I have to get down, and then she put a gate up in the doorway so I can't get in the kitchen. Speaking of food, I eat by myself if other dogs are around or I try to steal food from them, and remember, I have to gain weight, but in a healthy way. And respectfully. But I'm never mean when it comes to food. I also recently learned what toys are! Man, they're FUN! I even play with them all by myself. I really enjoy head rubs and will paw at you to keep petting me until I'm satisfied. I never knew affection from humans could be so great! Now I'm looking for my forever humans that will show me love for the rest of my days. I hope you are the lucky one to bring me into your family! *Cledus is being fostered in Madison, WI.
