Name: Paso Best Guess for Breed: Coonhound mix Best Guess for Age: 2 years as of Sept. 2024 Gender: Female Approximate Weight: 44 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven’t seen Paso with cats or kids, but she can be tested! Currently Living At: DC area foster home. This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs. All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care. After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. She's currently waiting for her forever home at a shelter in South Carolina, where she's stealing hearts with her soulful eyes and gentle demeanor. Paso’s hound instincts shine through in her love for exploring and following scents, making her an ideal companion for outdoor adventures, long walks, or even cozy days in the yard. If you’re looking for a sweet, active, and loyal companion, Paso might just be the perfect addition to your family! What My Foster Says About Me: Paso is doing great! She settled in very quickly. She really enjoys long walks, sniffing everything, and chasing leaves blowing in the wind. I haven't really seen her get tired of it no matter how far we walk. Once we're back home she is content lounging in her bed throughout the day. She really loves getting attention and hugs, and is eager to learn new things with praise as the reward. She has no problem staying in her crate to sleep for the night. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
