Story
Are you looking for a ride or die snuggle buddy? Well look no further. Bruno is a redbone coonhound looking for his fur-ever family. This handsome weirdo is WONDERFUL other dogs and cats although he would be just as happy to be your only friend. Bruno sometimes has resource guarding issues and would do best in a home with older children. Bruno has done very well with learning all the basic house manners and leash walking. The thrill of a car ride or a leisurely stroll are the highlight of his day. He is very eager to please and does not always understand the concept of personal space and loves to throw his weight  around  your lap. Bruno does well in a kennel or left to his own devices to snuggle on a couch or cozy bed.   Bruno has a rare medical condition called Diabetes Insipidus which is easily treated by daily medication (this is a water intake condition, not a glucose issue). Story
Meet Jaxon "Jax" NAME: Jaxon "Jax" AGE: 1 year old BREED: Redbone Coonhound CATS: No, as of now. I do think with correct introductions and a experienced trainer/handler he could be. DOGS: Yes KIDS: Yes, older as hes a lot of dog. HOUSE TRAINED: 90% CRATE TRAINED: 95% - He does bark in his crate when he feels he shouldn't be crated. We do currently ignore this. Letting him out when he throws a fit just enforces the behavior. - Anyone interested in him will need to understand this will not be a overnight fix. They need to understand they can not just allow him to do whatever he wants to passify him and make him stop. - He gets boredom busters like Kongs & Chews in his crate and it helps. - Trazodone does absolutely nothing for him so please don't underestimate this situation. LEASH TRAINED: Yes, although we are working on his pulling. ENERGY LEVEL: 10 out of 10 - HIGH energy and will need a dedicated and active family. VACCINES: Yes PREVENTION MEDS: Nexguard & Heartguard SPAYED/NEUTERED: Yes LOVES: Attention, Food, Playing with toys, fuzzy blankets, elevated beds and did I mention food? DISLIKES: Long car rides, cucumbers and sharing his blankets FUN FACTS: - He is the picture perfect definition of a coonhound. Hes hard headed, however hes wicked smart. He's a dog that need structure and a very hound savy and dedicated owner. - He will absolutely try to dumpster dive in your trash can. - He will counter surf with the best of them. - He will get into things you forgot you even owned. - He is the closest thing to a toddler in their terrible 2s & 3s you'll find in dog form. Story
Meet Ryder *Has Professional Training NAME: Ryder AGE: 3-4 BREED: Redbone Coonhound CATS: No DOG: Yes, no dominant males KIDS: Yes although I recommend older kids HOUSE TRAINED: Yes CRATE TRAINED: Yes LEASH TRAINED: Yes ENERGY LEVEL: High HEARTWORM STATUS: Faint Positive - Slow Kill Treatment SPAYED/NEUTERED: Yes LOVES: FOOD, snacks, exploring, car rides DISLIKES: Not having structure as hes a dog that thrive when he has boundaries and a schedule. FUN FACT: Ryder has had professional training!! *Currently in board & Train with a professional trainer. Meet Ryder, a Redbone Coonhound x Bloodhound male that is estimated to be around 3-5 years old. Ryder was found wandering as a stray in NC and then ended up at the shelter. How this sweet dog-friendly boy wasn't reclaimed or at least adopted out before he found himself on "the list" is beyond me. Ryder is the dog you get for a hiking, camping or jogging partner. He is the Forrest Gump of the dog world... He just likes running. He is very ATHLETIC! He's thin and trim but don't let that fool you... This guys all muscle. Ryder has learned to heel on lead and does not pull when he is on a leash. He has a basic obedience foundation, although I will say he does have a stubborn streak at times, afterall he's a hound. Ryders only downfall was having impusle control issues when it came to food. He has improved tremendously in his time at the trainers. He now knows he must sit and stay (a reasonable distanve away) until given the release command to let him know he can come eat. This is something that anyone who considers adopting him will need to continue in his forever home. However even with his improvement he will need to go to a home without young children. With Ryder being the picture perfect definition of a hound, he will need to go to a experienced hound savy home. He's not a bad boy at all, in fact he's a very good boy. However he's a big boy and a lot of dog in general. He needs someone active who wants a exercise/adventure partner. He is not a dog that will be happy long term with 1-2 short walks a day or a quick session at the dog park. He's a hound and they tend to have high prey drive .. Ryder is no exception. Unfortunately, this means that not all hounds are good with cats or other small critters like rabbits, for instance. Ryder's home should be free of cats or small pets. Ryder has been great with other dogs and loves people. He's house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash. He loves to cuddle, and he loves car rides. Training Update: Ryder is doing great in board and train and so far hasn't shown any of the previously seen food aggression. I’ve not had ANY issues with him biting over resources. He now walks back sits and waits for me to release him to eat. Backs away from food and sits and waits. I’ve taken things from him. I’ve messed with the dish while he ate. I’ve not any any bite concerns from him."
