Story
Courtesy Listing Dunkin   Male, Redbone Coonhound/Boxer Mix, current weight 61 pounds, Estimated age 1.5-2years old   Dunkin has a coppery coat that gleams like a penny in the sun and the soulful eyes of a dog who’s seen hard times and come out stronger. He’s currently being fostered by a loving family in Asheville, NC, who stepped in to care for him after Hurricane Helene devastated the region and forced Brother Wolf Animal Rescue to shut its doors temporarily. Dunkin may have had a rough start, but he’s thriving in his foster home and is ready to find his forever family.   Dunkin is house-trained, crate-trained, and full of heart. He loves his people fiercely and is happiest when he’s by their side, whether it’s cuddling on the couch, sleeping at their feet while they work, or tagging along on errands. He’s great on long walks and hikes, staying close both on and off-leash and coming back when called, especially if there are Dunkin snacks involved. Dunkin is happiest out in the country where he can trot along and sniff all the exciting smells to his hearts content.  Dunkin gets along well with other dogs, reads their cues beautifully, and loves frisky playtime when the mood strikes. He’s also fantastic in the car, snoozing peacefully while you travel and even enjoys boating!   Dunkin does have a few quirks that make him even more lovable. His time as a stray has left him a bit food-insecure, so he’s always eager for mealtime (and yes, he may attempt some counter surfing if he thinks he can get away with it). A firm "No" keeps him in check, though, while he is learning self control.  Loud noises make him nervous, so he’s not a fan of fireworks or gunshots, but that just means he’d prefer a cozy home over a hunting trip. And while he’s a big boy, he doesn’t know it—he loves climbing into laps or standing on his hind legs for a hug.   Dunkin is the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world. His loyalty, affection, and zest for life make him the perfect companion for someone who can give him the love and stability he so deserves. If you’re looking for a hiking buddy, brewery pal, and cuddle enthusiast all in one, Dunkin is your guy!   House trained Crate trained Good with Dogs Good with Big kiddos Cats unknown although he has very low interest in squirrels, birds and felines he's seen on walks   * The adoption fee of $475 includes age-appropriate vaccines, initial de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, microchip and transport fee.   * The application is the first step in all inquiries and adoptions     Canine Compassion Fund - Online Adoption Application www.caninecompassionfund.org/Forms/OnlineAdoptionApplication   * Additional information is available on our site caninecompassionfund.org December 21, 2024, 11:15 am

Story
Danner is a 1 year, 5 month old handsome red boy. This smiling boy weighs approximately 55 lbs and is the sweetest, gentle but playful boy you will meet. He has one of the saddest stories. This sweet boy was on death row. He was set for euthanasia in April of 2023, as a 3-month-old puppy. An amazing person pulled him from the euthanasia list, but with no rescue backing or help, they just wanted to make sure he wasn’t euthanized. Danner has patiently waited over a year for his forever family. He has grown up in a home he didn’t know wasn’t his forever one. He gets along great with other dogs and doesn’t even mind cats, he does NOT have a high prey drive. Danner’s favorite activities involve laying around in the house, playing with toys and being free in the yard to sunbathe or just run around and stretch out. This awesome boy is a diamond in the ruff. He is so calm but entertaining, just wants to be in your arms and get lots of pets. He will be your most loyal companion, your shadow and your best friend. Danner will follow you around everywhere he can if allowed. He is not a leader, and would do fantastic with another dog in the home to be friends with or to learn how to be a true house dog. He is mostly crate and house trained. Danner would do great with a medium active household as he loves his walks, would do great on shorter runs (he has never been on a run, but he could get the hang of it!). He would thrive on going on adventures and exploring the outdoors. He is still a puppy at heart and does need proper training and stimulation to make him the best version of himself. Danner has waited over a year for his home, please help us help him find it. Adoption fee includes: Spay or neuter, current negative heart worm test, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella (kennel cough), rabies vaccination, flea/tick and heart worm prevention, dewormer, microchip, health certificate from a veterinarian, and transport costs from Texas to the East coast.

Story
Name: Duke Breed: Redbone hound mix Approximate Age: 6 years old Sex: Male Dogs: Yes Cats: No Kids: Yes 6 years old, Redbone hound mix, he is good with other dogs, no kids under 13 (he was teased by a young kids to the point he does not like them) no cats. He is leash trained, he does guard his food so needs to be fed separate in his own space. Food guarding is something that most times improves over time once a pup is out of the shelter environment and with a committed family willing to train. -Attention: all puppies will need a family committed to basic obedience training. This includes but is not limited to: House, leash, behavioral & crate training. If there is a cat in the home, it is the adopters responsibility to get them acclimated to one another. We suggest contacting a trainer as soon as possible. All dogs are fixed and up to date on shots for adoption. Link to apply: http://www.kcpetrescue.org/adoption-services.html

Story
Hi! I’m Gordon, I’m estimated to be 3 years young and I love to play! I have resident foster friends that I enjoy spending time outdoors with, I am fully house broken, and crate trained. My foster mom said that I have come a long way since coming up north and I have really come out of my shell in these past few weeks. I am still learning my  basic manners, and my foster mom thinks I may never have lived indoors as I don’t always know how to jump up and sit on the couch with my foster family immediately. I have been around kids, older and younger dogs, and I am cat friendly. I am interested in them but I haven’t tried to cuddle with them. My foster mom recommends a fenced in yard as I do have a hound nose and it is to the ground! I would love a family with another dog as I really do love playing!December 15, 2024, 9:36 pm

EJ is a fun, young hound. He needs someone active, with a big outdoor life that will take him on adventures. He is affectionate and loyal to those who show him love. He would prefer to be the only dog as he doesn't like to share. He is not good with cats or other smaller animals or small people. He really wants to be a working dog.   For more info about EJ and our adoption process please enclose your phone number with your inquiry or call Jacki at 941-587-4612. November 2, 2024, 2:03 pm
