Leona whom we call Nona, is apx 7-8 years young and weighs 18 pounds . She has gotten a tad chonky here with us and probably could stand to lose a pound or two. She is a rat terrier. Very smart, walks well on leash, appears potty trained. Good with other dogs but will let a younger hyper dog know when she has had enough playing and will growl. She is a confident dog with other dogs, not submissive but not overly dominant either. She tends to act like the stern grandmother of group. She likes to play and have a good time but when it is time for a nap and to watch her shows she wants to be left alone 😂 she could care less about the cats. But would probably growl at them if they tried to eat her food. Nona is not food aggressive with her dry food but gets a bit persnickety with her wet food or special treats.
Nona is great with all people and children, very gentle. She has been around young children before as the people who found her had two young boys and Nona liked them very much. Nona’s rescue story is quite comical. Some people ordered a Pizza. The app said the pizza was delivered but there was no pizza on the step. After checking the ring cam, they discovered a stray dog took off with the entire box , large pizza included. The stray dog then ran into the neighbors garage with her stolen pizza and was found eating it. Those people ended up keeping the stray, now known as Nona for a few days until finding her a rescue.
She came to us thin, a very bad coat, very dirty, she needed to be spayed, her teeth were all either falling out or broken, and she was heart worm positive. 3 months and a couple thousand dollars later, Nona has recovered and is ready for a home where she does not have to steal a pizza. She had a dental, she had her heart worm treatment and went through treatment with zero issues. She is a well mannered girl. She acts very much like a rat terrier in many ways but she does not have a prey drive. She is bossy in the morning about breakfast time. We tried to break this habit to no avail. She wants her breakfast. On time. No fussing around lol. She is an older girl that had a hard life. She deserves a second chance and a family that adores her and her weird rat terrier ways :)
