Story
Energetic 3-year-old Luna spends long days alone, tolerantly resting in her crate while her humans are at work. But she yearns for a new home where she is more free to romp, run, chase critters, and play fetch, getting plenty of interaction with an active and engaging family. She's prepared to dazzle you with her repertoire of tricks, including sit, stay, paw, lie down, roll over, kissy, and spin. She'll even balance treats on her nose then toss them into the air to catch! Luna is a fun-loving, spunky girl, who is always in the mood to go on adventures, and she never fails to bring toys back to keep a game of fetch going.  After she has tired you out, Luna's content to relax on her bed or snuggle up beside you for a nap, particularly if you are offering belly rubs. She's fully crate trained and house-trained but needs continued work at walking more calmly on leash. She's eager to engage with other dogs who are similarly fun-loving and energetically playful; because she's a big girl for a rattie mix (35 lbs.), other dogs who are smaller, timid, or grumpy might be annoyed by her persistent liveliness. Luna is extremely smart and highly motivated by food. She has been trained to not take treats or food unless told 'take,' and if she gets possessive over high-value treats or things she shouldn't have, she'll listen to you when you say 'leave it.' Taking her guard dog responsibilities seriously, she'll alert her humans to suspicious noises or people outside and will greet newcomers to the home with barking and jumping. After a few treats and a little time, however, she'll accept the new friends and offer them her toys. Her excitable nature and inclination to resource guard food and treats makes her unsuitable for young children. But beautiful Luna will be the perfect companion for an active and attentive household whose members spend much time at home. Luna is located in Texas, but her guardian is willing to drive her about anywhere in the continental USA for the perfect adoptive home, so don't let geography keep you from considering her!  See more photos of Luna at www.imageevent.com/Newrattitude/luna .Beginning March 1, 2025, our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs or $300 for puppies under 6 months old. If you are interested in adopting this dog, PLEASE READ THE DETAILED ADOPTION PROCESS information on our website at www. NewRattitude.org/adopt/  From there, you can access our adoption application or contact our Adoption Team for more info. February 23, 2025, 6:23 pm

Story
***DFW area only-No Exceptions*** Peanut is a ~7 week (as of 2/20/25) old Chihuahua mix puppy. He has scruffy fur so we think maybe he’s mixed with Shih Tzu or some other terrier breed.  He was found stray with his brother Brittle. It’s dangerous for such young puppies to be in the shelter, so his foster mom brought him into the Legacy Humane fold! Peanut loves to be played with, enjoys jumping in laps, and is very social. He’s lively and fun. Puppies at this age will require patience and training to become the best pup they can be. Peanut is working on potty training will begin crate training soon. Peanut would best be suited for a home with older kids due to his small size.  He is new to his foster home and is getting used to larger dogs and cat friends.  Current weigh: ~4lbs Projected weight 20-30 lbs    We are requesting a donation of $325 for the adoption which includes his neuter, three rounds of puppy vaccines, a rabies vaccine, microchip with registration, dewormer and a single dose of heartworm preventative.  If you're interested in meeting or adopting him, please complete an application on our website and someone will reach out to you within 48 hours.  https://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ Adopter will take puppy to an LHS approved vet to be neutered in May of 2025 per the spay/neuter agreement and in accordance to Chapter 828, Texas Health and Safety Code.  *Due to the high volume of applications and inquires for puppies as well as vetting needs, we will not be able to respond to or consider interest from those outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth Area.   We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
Niko is a true lap dog with a lively interest in being outdoors. He was spotted multiple times running the streets before his rescue.  Ideally, he should have daily walks and a very secure backyard since he still seems to hear the call of the wild.  Niko also enjoys looking out the window and going to dog parks, is cooperative getting his harness on, can be left loose when you're out, is good on car rides, and is not a picky eater. Niko is generally low-maintenance with some high-maintenance moments.  He seems okay around respectful children (about 6+), and dogs of all sizes (favors larger dogs), he is playful, and has guard dog tendencies of barking at people/noises near your windows and doors.  He lunges towards squirrels and rabbits, but with bicyclists he ignores some and barks at others.  He alternates from walking with a confident, princely gait, to intensely following a trail nose down, to stopping and sprinkling multiple objects, to galloping towards a desirable tree. As energetic as Niko sometimes can be, he is a deep sleeper who loves to snooze on a dog bed with comfy blankets or get under the covers on a people bed.   Niko is chock full of personality, but the sort that is especially endearing.  He is a charmer with an independent streak.  But most of all he is a loving little guy who needs a loving home. ##2280678##

Story
BREED-Rat Terrier; SEX-Female; SIZE-Small; WEIGHT-13 lbs.; AGE-Approximately 2 Years; SPAY/NEUTER-Yes; HOUSETRAINED-Currently Uses Doggie Door; GOOD WITH KIDS-Yes; GOOD WITH DOGS-Yes; GOOD WITH CATS-Unknown; HISTORY-Rescued From A Local Shelter; ADOPTION FEE-$300; Hello there, I'm Stario! I ended up in this shelter after a hilarious mix-up at the park. I was chasing a squirrel, you see, and I ended up following it right into a doggy yoga class! All those downward dogs and warrior poses, I couldn't resist joining in. Next thing I knew, I was being applauded for my 'doggie zen' and whisked away to the shelter. I'm as friendly as they come, always up for a game of fetch or a belly rub. I'm loyal and sweet too, always ready to lend a paw or a comforting nuzzle. If you're looking for a playful companion who will keep you laughing and loved, I'm your dog!February 16, 2025, 6:27 am
