Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Online Adoption Application Maybelline came with her baby. Baby was adopted.  She is a quirky dog,  typical Jack Russell type,  she gets along with other dogs but needs a few days to get to like the new dog as she feels she is queen bee.   She is very active, loves running around and playing with toys and other dogs, not really great with cats or small animals,  typical rat terrier jack russell.  Would do great with other Jacks or Rat Terriers or alone as well but needs time to adjust to new surrounding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 4, 2024, 10:44 pm

Story
Felicia is 1 year old, 11-pound female terrier mix from Texas!  Felicia is a gentle, curious pup. She enjoys being close to you and getting a spoonful of Greek yogurt as a treat. Felicia appears to be pee-pad trained. Her other skills are a work in progress, as she is still decompressing after her long trip from Texas. Felicia’s forever family will need to continue working with her to build her trust and reinforce and advance the progress she’s been making. Felicia’s crate is her safe space, and she sleeps in the crate at nighttime or when her foster family leaves the house. She has a little bit of separation anxiety - she is okay being left alone at home, but she hates when her foster family is in another room! She prefers her crate to be in the bedroom so she can be near her foster family over night. Felicia is looking to be part of a low key family that can teach her to love and trust. Because she is so gentle, we think she’d be okay in a home with children. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Felicia, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2286597##

Story
Freddy is a 1-year-old, 18-pound male rat terrier mix from Texas! Freddy is a cuddly, low energy, loving pup.  He is  is continuing to adjust during his time in Brooklyn. Freddy enjoys cuddling on the couch, walks when it’s not so cold out, and dinner time. He is working on obedience training. He is a quick learner and picked up potty training quickly. Sit and stay are still a work in progress but shouldn’t take long. He likes to be obedient and is scared to get in trouble. Loud noises and action is still really scary. During his time with his foster family, he is just about house trained. He seems to be learning quickly and should be fully trained very soon. Freddy is great on a leash, he does get spooked with noise or anything distracting and will just stop walking. Once pulled a little bit he will shake it off and keep going. He doesn’t like the cold but once it gets warmer out I think he will love a good long walk! His forever family will need to continue working with Freddy to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. Each day he is getting more and more confident. He needs to feel safe and secure. Freddy has done well in his crate during the day. He may cry at first but has been better when he has a bone to chew on. He is in his crate whenever he is home alone or at night. He loves to be cozy with his foster mom on the couch and can often be found cuddled up with pillows on the couch. Freddy is looking for a quiet or low key house. He doesn’t play much but that may change when he builds confidence feeling more comfortable. He seems to be interested in other dogs but hasn’t had much interaction. He is okay with cats, only just being a little scared when they jump out at him.He seems to be fine with people and children, just needs to feel safe and comfortable. He is scared but has not shown any aggression. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Freddy, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. Story
Meet Frankie! Frankie is a 1-year-old, 13.5-pound male Jack Russell Terrier mix from Texas. This sweet pup is adjusting to life in Brooklyn with his foster family and making strides every day. Frankie came from a hoarding situation, so he is still working through some anxiety and learning how to trust the world around him. His forever family will need to be patient and help him continue his journey to confidence and happiness. Personality: Frankie is a complete sweetheart. While he may take some time to warm up to new people, once he feels safe, he transforms into a total cuddlebug! He loves snuggling up with his foster family, curling up in fleece blankets, and chewing on his favorite toys—especially his beloved Lambchop plushie. Frankie enjoys quiet moments but also appreciates bursts of playtime and activity. Training Progress: Frankie is doing well with learning basic commands like “sit” and is working on other obedience training. He has been using pee pads indoors as he continues to build confidence with outdoor potty training. Frankie is also working on his leash skills, and his foster family is helping him feel more comfortable exploring the world outside. Home Environment: Frankie thrives in a quiet, low-key environment where he can feel safe and secure. He would do best in a home with another dog to show him the ropes and help him feel more confident. Frankie does well with other dogs, cats, and children, making him a great fit for a variety of families. He is crate-trained and finds comfort in his cozy crate during the day. Ideal Family: Frankie’s ideal family will be patient and understanding of his need for time to adjust. They should be committed to reinforcing and advancing the progress he’s made with his foster family. Frankie needs a home that offers a balance of quiet downtime and gentle, engaging activity to help him continue to grow. Special Note: Frankie has only been with his foster family for a week, and while he’s still very shy, he’s already making progress. He’s begun taking treats from his foster mom’s hand and even snuggling in bed—a testament to the loving companion he is becoming. With the right family, Frankie will blossom into a loyal and affectionate pup who will bring joy and love to his forever home. If you’re ready to give Frankie the safe, loving home he deserves, apply to adopt him today! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Story
Bailey (born 6/20/2015) is an 8-year-old, 14 pound, housebroken, Rat Terrier mix. Because Bailey came from an abuse situation, he has trust issues. If you want to adopt him, you would need to visit with Bailey a few times to become friends and gain his trust. The deal here is that Bailey needs to know you before he can trust you. Once Bailey knows you, he is a very affectionate and loyal friend, but he will also be protective – so he needs to know that you will be the one to protect him. We really appreciate that you want to give a shelter animal a home. The Humane Society of New York was founded in 1904. The Vladimir Horowitz/Wanda Toscanini Horowitz Adoption Center is a no-kill shelter. Our on-site clinic and staff of skilled Veterinarians looks after the health and well-being of every animal here. We also have a great adoption matchmaking team who will gladly take your profile and match you or your pet with just the right cat or dog companion. We start the process once you have submitted an application to us. FOR AN APPLICATION, please visit http://humanesocietyny.org/adoptions/ and download then email your application to hsny.adopt@gmail.com. Our one and only location is: 306 East 59th Street (between 1st & 2nd Avenue) in Manhattan. If you'd like to sponsor Bailey, please email amk.hsny@verizon.net.
