Meet Maggie a rat terrier mix. Maggie is very shy and just loves to curl up on her bed and chill out. It's been challenging to get to really know her, because she is so scared at the shelter. Volunteers have been working with her and she is getting more comfortable. She is still very scared and shy and she needs things to progress slowly as she gets to know you. She will need a patient adopter who can give her time to warm up and is willing to work with her on her confidence. She is unsure of other dogs and cats. As she becomes more comfortable we may learn more about her reactions to other pets. Right now we would recommend no other pets in the house or a way for them to be separated. She will need to be muzzled for vet care. She is not aggressive, but does nip out of fear when she is being handled. She is also on edge when you reach toward her head, so removing a leash needs to be a slow process. Slip leads are helpful, so they can be put on without needing to reach too close to her head. We would recommend a quiet and calm home so that Maggie has an environmnent where she can feel safe. We would recommend a home without kids. Any potential adopter will likely need to meet Maggie several times before adoption to give her a chance to warm up. A foster to adopt situation may be an option, but only for local (Southbend/mishawaka ) fosters.  ##2686284##

Louie is a 10 year old chihuahua jack Russell mix. I adopted him at 1 years old. For a long time he was my baby - slept in our bed, I took him on car rides often, to the dog park, etc I now have two small children, one being an infant and we do not give him the attention anymore that he deserves. This was not a light decision, as we have had Louie a long time, but again I want to give him the life he deserves. We also travel a lot, both work full time so are not home most of the day. He does well with other children and dogs, however I think he would thrive in a home where he can have someone's full attention (older retired individuals, singles) and a yard to run, even at 10 years old he is very energetic. He does bark at visitors for a few minutes when entering the home until he feels comfortable / calms down. He does bark at the mailman and delivery truck drivers. He is potty trained and crate trained. He loves lap time and cuddles but if fine spending time by himself too

JRT Jason came to us from an owner who relinquished by no fault of his own. This is a nice boy who is good with other dogs & with people. He is very sweet but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building. His birth date is 11/25/24 and he weighs 13#.He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. He is heart worm & tick born illness negative. We had him xrayed from a slight limp in his back leg, but nothing was found. His adoption donation is $300 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card. Please note that any additional funding collected for this pet goes back into our medical acct. to provide for other dogs in need. We do not ship or transport.Please email for an application if you would like to provide this nice kid with his forever home. ##2687429##

Sugar is a little white terrier mix who is a senior dog but is still playful. She loves toys and carrying around her balls. She has no interest in chasing a ball; she just wants to carry it around and show it off. Sugar is currently in a foster home with other dogs including her friend Caleb. Sugar and Caleb were surrendered together from the same home, but they do not need to be adopted together. Although they do get along great, and Caleb loves to follow Sugar around the house. So, they would make a great pair, if you are looking for a duo that you already know get along well together. Sugar is very comfortable in her foster home and does well with the other dogs and also with kids. Sugar is completely potty trained. If you are looking for a chill, yet still playful dog that isn't super high energy, but is active, Sugar is the girl for you.  ##2649311##
