Story
Meet Cookie – The Sweetest Little Speckled Pup! Cookie is a 9-week-old Rat Terrier mix with a stunning dark brindle and white coat adorned with countless adorable speckles. Rescued from abandonment in Texas along with her siblings, Cookie has quickly shown she’s full of love, energy, and a bit of spunky charm. Don’t be fooled by her soulful gaze—Cookie is an energetic and playful puppy who loves romping with her littermates and the two adult dogs in her foster home (a 15 lb Rat Terrier and a 30 lb mixed breed). She thrives in the company of others, whether it’s a pup or her favorite 9-year-old human, who she adores snuggling with. Cookie’s love for treats, especially carrots, and chew toys makes her an easily motivated little learner. This vocal pup is known for her cute bark, especially when she’s excited during playtime. She’s kid-friendly, loves being held, and is adjusting well to her new name. Cookie is excelling with potty pads and starting to explore the great outdoors in short bursts as she gets used to leash walking and the weather. Her foster family is also working on basic commands, like "sit," with treat rewards. Cookie is used to nail trims, having her mouth checked, and even tolerates bath time like a champ. She and her siblings love to sleep in a big, cozy puppy pile, but she also enjoys one-on-one time with her humans and the adult dogs in the house. If you’re looking for a lively, loving companion with a big personality and an even bigger heart, Cookie is ready to sprinkle your life with joy and cuddles! Story
Tula is a wonderful companion who thrives on genuine connection and love. Tula has a lot of love to give and specific needs that make her an ideal companion for the right home. Her comfort with other dogs and her preference for a quieter, adult-only environment are key considerations for anyone looking to adopt her. Her playfulness and intelligence would certainly shine in a home that can provide regular mental stimulation and physical activity, such as teaching her new tricks and enjoying outdoor adventures. For Tula, potential adopters should be prepared to provide a nurturing, attentive setting where she can form strong bonds. Given her discomfort around children, a calm, stable home with one or two adults would likely be ideal. Also, the presence of another playful dog could be a great source of companionship and help her adjust to her new environment more smoothly. It's important to find the right environment for her where she can feel comfortable and happy. Fill out an adoption application to schedule your own private meet and greet with this furry friend. House-trained,
Story
Vino is a loyal and affectionate companion who loves to cuddle and play. He TOYS, treats, chasing after wildlife, hanging out on the balcony, spending time with his foster mom. He is house-trained and walks well on a leash. He is dog selective and may do best in a home without other dogs (although he may do well with some guidance/training for resource guarding). In typical Rat Terrier fashion, Vino can be protective of his home - depending on the visitor, he can take some time to warm up to them. Vino would thrive with a family that understands and appreciates his breed and will provide him with plenty of love. His foster mom thinks he'd be great at barn hunt and even agility (although not required)!  If you think Vino could be the perfect addition to your family, please consider adopting him today. Contact us to schedule a meet and greet and learn more about this sweet boy. Adopt don't shop! Stop by our weekly adoption events on Saturdays from 12-4 pm at 372 Townline Road in Mundelein, IL 60060 to meet our adoptable animals in person.
