Story
Beautiful brown-eyed Cedar is as pretty as they come. Weighing close to 15 lbs., 8-year-old Cedar enjoys being mellow most of the time, napping in the sun, daily short walks, and most importantly exploring her fenced-in backyard. Cedar comes from a breeding situation, where she had limited positive interactions with humans, so she's shy and very skittish. Taking things very slowly and giving her time to warm up (along with lots of treats), she'll be your new best friend asking for attention and ready for belly rubs. Since Cedar startles easily, she prefers walking in quiet areas where she won't encounter a lot of strangers, loud noises, or dogs. Also, a securely fenced-in yard is a must and having a dog-door is even better. It has become clear that Cedar trusts women much more than men and will need to have a woman as her primary person. She loves her foster dad but only when her foster mom is home. She does have some separation anxiety, so she is looking for a woman who either works from home or is retired. Cedar currently sleeps well in her crate every night but would probably love sleeping with her person once she feels safe.Cedar has gotten along well with the other five dogs in her foster home, relying on them for comfort and joining in at barking at the wildlife. She doesn't often play with her foster siblings but does readily snuggle up to dogs and humans alike. Cedar would do best living with at least one other considerate, gentle dog.  Cedar has a wonderful personality, is a fairly low-maintenance dog and has been a joy to her foster family. She's also as cute as a button and she loves blankets especially when they are just out of the warm dryer! Story
Taffy is as sweet as the confection he's named after. This handsome boy is approximately 7 years-old and trying to reach his optimum weight at about 29lbs. In spite of his large size, he insists on being a lap dog and won't take no for an answer. He loves to be included in everything that his foster mom is doing, whether it be cooking in the kitchen or taking a shower! Taffy came to his foster home fully house-trained (with a doggie door), although he's committed a few marking crimes. While we're hoping the marking is behind us now that he's neutered, he still needs some polishing on his house manners. His paws have been on the coffee table or counter more than once and it is clear that he was allowed to do that at one point.  He already knows commands such as 'stay', 'come', and 'paw'! Taffy is very friendly and sweet to all people he meets, and the vet staff just loved him! He enjoys sleeping and hanging out with the other dogs in his foster home but he can be the 'fun police' and squash any play that the other pack members fire up. Because he is so focused on his person, he would do very well as an only dog or with a laid-back doggy sibling. He should likely live without cats since he has a healthy prey drive - a secure fence is needed since he chases wild critters. Taffy guards his toys and prefers to play alone with them, for that reason he should go to a home without young children. Taffy gets very excited to go for walks and has become a great running partner to his foster mother. He will need a couple of outings each day to keep him stimulated and his physical needs met. He is very athletic and strong and will need a sure-footed person as he pulls and has a habit of jumping up for attention. He's working on this! He is overall a mellow guy, hanging out in the office while his foster parents work and cuddling with his person under a blanket to watch TV in the evenings. He currently sleeps in a crate but he would much prefer the option to sleep with his person. He is happy to jump in the car and go for a ride. He has a chicken and beef allergy and is thriving on salmon-based food. Taffy is a wonderful guy and would love to find a home with a person or persons that can include him in their daily activities. See more pictures and videos of Taffy at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/taffyBeginning March 1, 2025, our adoption fee is $250 for adult dogs or $300 for puppies under 6 months old.
