Story
Beautiful Bilbo awaits his forever home with you! This charming 8-year-old rat terrier weighs 30 lbs. and is a fun-loving big bundle of joy. He is reliably house-trained and knows a wide variety of verbal commands including sit, lie down, stay, wait, leave it, come, heel, out, go to (get in) crate, and even play dead! He does wonderfully on his leash during walks and loves to play tug-of-war or be chased around by the humans. Bilbo is also happy to chill with you on the couch and receive love in the form of belly rubs and bum scratches. He is even used to staying home alone and has no separation anxiety. He's a well-behaved dog that will come to you already adjusted to sharing a house and being a fantastic companion. Like most rescues, he does have quirks that will be easily manageable in the right household. First is that he is uncomfortable with youngsters and can be defensively reactive, particularly when he is eating, so he will need a kid-free home. If he thinks someone might be trying to take his food, he could try to bite, so he needs his space during meal time. Bilbo's other challenge is meeting new dogs. He tends to get overexcited and can be dominant, which can understandably be off-putting to other dogs. Although he soon settles down if the other dog is not aggressive, it is necessary for his new family either to have no other dogs or else to live in close enough proximity to have a meet-and-greet in a neutral place where the dogs can be introduced and ensure that they will be compatible. If your home is right for Bilbo, he will certainly be the right companion for you. Handsome, smart, well-trained, great manners, loving, and delightfully sociable... he's a great new addition to your family. You can see more photos of Bilbo at https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/bilbo.Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old. Story
Sweet as a cookie, Oreo is a 10 pound, 4-year-old female rat terrier. Prior to New Rattitude, Oreo was found running around in the wilderness near Tallahassee FL. She is quick to show love and be loved. She isn't shy about giving kisses, and loves to cuddle up next to her humans. She's crate-trained and house-trained!  She's good with her small foster sibling and she loves wrestling with and playing tug of war with him. She has been a bit tense when near large dogs, so she may be fearful of them. She enjoys car rides and walks. She is good on a leash, and likes to zig zag across the sidewalk. She loves playing with soft toys and chasing balls and she doesn't appear to be destructive in the house. She's been known to be good around cats and young kids, too!   Oreo is a perfect pet who is young, loving, well-behaved, and would be an easy addition to nearly any family! See more cute photos of little Oreo here: https://imageevent.com/newrattitude/oreo2770 . Our adoption fee is $200 for adult dogs or $250 for puppies under 6 months old. Story
Pepper is a charming, affectionate, chihuahua mix -- approximately 6 years-old and weighing about 10 lbs. This poor little girl was picked up as a stray in Charlotte, NC with a broken leg. She was fortunate enough to be rescued by New Rattitude and transferred to a foster in Florida. Pepper went through surgery and six weeks of healing with no running, jumping or playing. She was such a trooper and so very tolerant of her restrictions although she wanted to be playing with the other two dogs in the house. Finally, she has gotten the 'all clear' to return to normal activities and fun!Pepper is very energetic and playful but she is also a champion snuggler and will spend hours on the sofa next to you. Pepper loves to give kisses and would prefer a wonderful companion who is around most of the time. She gets along well with the male dog in our house, but there have been a couple of tiffs with the female dog over food.Pepper loves walks and is still perfecting her leash manners. She doesn't enjoy car rides and prefers to be in a crate when traveling. Overall, Pepper has great house manners and never chews on anything besides her toys and bones. She doesn't try to escape out the doors or over gates. Pepper is a little shadow, following her mom everywhere in the house. She's mostly house-trained. She is crate trained and sleeps though the night in her crate. She's not a digger or climber in the yard, but she does enjoy chasing lizards and squirrels and would love to have a fenced area for exploration and play! Thankfully Pepper's leg has totally healed and she doesn't seem to have any other health issues. She is truly the sweetest little girl and she's ready to find her perfect home. Story
Howdy there! We are Trouble (smaller, pointy ears) and Snap, a bonded pair of older gentleman in search of a proper home in which to spend our golden years. We have spent many years together, and as such, we would really love to find a home for the both of us! We tend to be low energy but curious, we like to follow you around and know what you are up to. We seem to be housebroken and are familiar with sit and down, and we both love to snack on jerky treats. We can be around other animals and think we would do okay with kitties, but we prefer calmer dogs that will respect our space. Do you have enough room in your home and your heart for the both of us? We really hope so! Ask to meet us!
