Story
MILLIE is a lovely adult/senior, 8 pounds, girl Rat Terrier whose senior human dad passed away, leaving Millie and her four little companions, Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy, without their dad. They all get along really well, are house trained, and also know to use pads to do their business indoors, and at night, and when it's raining or very cold out. They are not barkers, only barking to warn that someone is at or near the front door, and then they settle down again. They are great with cats because their housemates have been six (6) cats! If shown a lot of affection and understanding when welcomed into their new homes, we are sure these lovely kiddos will do well in a loving new home even if they don’t stay together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Recently the number of deaths from hungry coyote attacks has greatly increased. Coyotes can climb 10 foot fences with a small to medium sized dog in their jaws. This happens in broad daylight in the middle of the day, and on trails while hiking with your dog on a leash, it is truly unbelievable, and we have frightening first-hand accounts. We are listing these lovely pups to help their current foster/rescue in finding them wonderful new homes. All four girl pups are spayed, Shorty is neutered, and all of them current on vaccines. To learn more about Millie (Cookie, Shorty, Poopsy, and Missy), please contact us at: theanimalsleftbehind@socal.rr.com (also our PayPal email for donations and sponsorships).

Story
Captain came to us from the South LA shelter where he had his eye removed after some potential trauma to it. He is a total sweetie, but is a bit insecure, so he will need an understanding adopter to go slow with him. He is scared of loud noises and sudden movements and can be intimated by other dogs bigger than him, but he gets along with small dogs and LOVES to play with toys! Captain is house trained and does well in the crate overnight; It’s his safe space to pop into when he feels overwhelmed. Captain doesn’t love change, so his adopter will need to be patient with him and give him time to decompress and gain confidence in his new surroundings. He’s very cuddly, and likes to be attached to his foster. All he wants is to lay in his Foster’s lap or be picked up. His cute signature move is to wiggle while laying on his back and bury his head in your side. Captain is overall a very chill dog and his personality has already blossomed over time! We have no doubt he will continue to develop and come into his dogdom. We recommend an adult only home (older kids ok) for Captain.

Story
Felicia is 1 year old, 11-pound female terrier mix from Texas!  Felicia is a gentle, curious pup. She enjoys being close to you and getting a spoonful of Greek yogurt as a treat. Felicia appears to be pee-pad trained. Her other skills are a work in progress, as she is still decompressing after her long trip from Texas. Felicia’s forever family will need to continue working with her to build her trust and reinforce and advance the progress she’s been making. Felicia’s crate is her safe space, and she sleeps in the crate at nighttime or when her foster family leaves the house. She has a little bit of separation anxiety - she is okay being left alone at home, but she hates when her foster family is in another room! She prefers her crate to be in the bedroom so she can be near her foster family over night. Felicia is looking to be part of a low key family that can teach her to love and trust. Because she is so gentle, we think she’d be okay in a home with children. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Felicia, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the dog is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2286597##

Story
Freddy is a 1-year-old, 18-pound male rat terrier mix from Texas! Freddy is a cuddly, low energy, loving pup.  He is  is continuing to adjust during his time in Brooklyn. Freddy enjoys cuddling on the couch, walks when it’s not so cold out, and dinner time. He is working on obedience training. He is a quick learner and picked up potty training quickly. Sit and stay are still a work in progress but shouldn’t take long. He likes to be obedient and is scared to get in trouble. Loud noises and action is still really scary. During his time with his foster family, he is just about house trained. He seems to be learning quickly and should be fully trained very soon. Freddy is great on a leash, he does get spooked with noise or anything distracting and will just stop walking. Once pulled a little bit he will shake it off and keep going. He doesn’t like the cold but once it gets warmer out I think he will love a good long walk! His forever family will need to continue working with Freddy to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. Each day he is getting more and more confident. He needs to feel safe and secure. Freddy has done well in his crate during the day. He may cry at first but has been better when he has a bone to chew on. He is in his crate whenever he is home alone or at night. He loves to be cozy with his foster mom on the couch and can often be found cuddled up with pillows on the couch. Freddy is looking for a quiet or low key house. He doesn’t play much but that may change when he builds confidence feeling more comfortable. He seems to be interested in other dogs but hasn’t had much interaction. He is okay with cats, only just being a little scared when they jump out at him.He seems to be fine with people and children, just needs to feel safe and comfortable. He is scared but has not shown any aggression. Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Freddy, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. Story
Meet Frankie! Frankie is a 1-year-old, 13.5-pound male Jack Russell Terrier mix from Texas. This sweet pup is adjusting to life in Brooklyn with his foster family and making strides every day. Frankie came from a hoarding situation, so he is still working through some anxiety and learning how to trust the world around him. His forever family will need to be patient and help him continue his journey to confidence and happiness. Personality: Frankie is a complete sweetheart. While he may take some time to warm up to new people, once he feels safe, he transforms into a total cuddlebug! He loves snuggling up with his foster family, curling up in fleece blankets, and chewing on his favorite toys—especially his beloved Lambchop plushie. Frankie enjoys quiet moments but also appreciates bursts of playtime and activity. Training Progress: Frankie is doing well with learning basic commands like “sit” and is working on other obedience training. He has been using pee pads indoors as he continues to build confidence with outdoor potty training. Frankie is also working on his leash skills, and his foster family is helping him feel more comfortable exploring the world outside. Home Environment: Frankie thrives in a quiet, low-key environment where he can feel safe and secure. He would do best in a home with another dog to show him the ropes and help him feel more confident. Frankie does well with other dogs, cats, and children, making him a great fit for a variety of families. He is crate-trained and finds comfort in his cozy crate during the day. Ideal Family: Frankie’s ideal family will be patient and understanding of his need for time to adjust. They should be committed to reinforcing and advancing the progress he’s made with his foster family. Frankie needs a home that offers a balance of quiet downtime and gentle, engaging activity to help him continue to grow. Special Note: Frankie has only been with his foster family for a week, and while he’s still very shy, he’s already making progress. He’s begun taking treats from his foster mom’s hand and even snuggling in bed—a testament to the loving companion he is becoming. With the right family, Frankie will blossom into a loyal and affectionate pup who will bring joy and love to his forever home. If you’re ready to give Frankie the safe, loving home he deserves, apply to adopt him today! Vaccinated for rabies, DHPP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Story
Just wants to be loved...that's our Toby! Toby is an approx 2 year old, 15lb, male, Jack Russell/Doxy mix that is all about cuddles and love! He came to us when he was found on the streets abandoned and all alone...most likely dumped. A kind woman took him in and was able to get him scanned for a microchip (he didn't have one) and neutered. He was also treated for bite wounds on his body and foxtails embedded in his paws. Sadly, Toby had to go to a boarding facility as she couldn't keep dogs at her home. During that time she reached out to us to see if we could take him into our foundation...and we said yes! When we picked him up, we noticed something wrong with his eyes. He was squinting and looked to be in pain. We rushed him to our vet/specialist and he was indeed in so much pain that they had to sedate him just to examine. He was diagnosed with a deep ulcer in one eye and extreme dry eyes in both. He was sent to his foster with 3 medications to be given 3x a day for a month. He is now perfectly healed and doing amazingly! We are looking for a very patient, loving, and nurturing home for our sweet boy. We know from experience that he will come to you very scared and will do low growling. Humans failed him in his past and he is untrusting at first understably. It took his foster mom 2 days before he felt safe with her and her family, but once he knew everything was ok....he was all about the love! Toby definitely needs another young and playful dog in the home! He is AMAZING with other dogs and seems to love them all! This playful pup definitely needs a safe and secure backyard to run around and play in. Toby was most likely mistreated by men in his life as he is a little stand offish with them, but will open up with time. He is going to being shut down at meet/greets and will growl, but trust us when we tell you it only takes like 2 days for him to feel safe and loved, so we are looking for a home for him that will not give up quickly on him and give him that time he needs.... It will definitely be worth while! Toby is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We only adopt in the Greater Los Angeles Areas as an in person meet/greet, home check, and trial period are required. Please contact us at: gina@theforgottendog.org or 310-990-2020
