Story
Meet Owen! Owen is a spirited and intelligent young working breed pup ready to find his forever home! At just 1 year old, Owen is a bundle of energy and enthusiasm, seeking an experienced owner who understands his needs and can provide him with the guidance and stimulation he craves. Owen is a training enthusiast's dream - his intelligence is evident in his quick learning and eagerness to please. His high energy levels mean he's always up for an adventure, whether it's hiking trails, going for runs, or engaging in mentally stimulating activities. Owen is a go-getter and thrives when he has a job to do, making him an ideal candidate for agility training, obedience competitions, or other challenging activities that harness his natural abilities. While Owen's exuberance is infectious, his energy is not for every household. He would do best in a home with an experienced owner who can provide consistent training, structure, and boundaries. Patience, positive reinforcement, and a firm yet gentle hand will help Owen reach his full potential. In addition to his love for activities, Owen is incredibly affectionate, loyal and forms strong bonds with his humans. He's a social butterfly with people and has enjoyed the company of other dogs after proper introductions. However, due to his exuberance, a home without small children would be most suitable for Owen.  A fenced yard where he can safely burn off his energy and engage in play would be a great bonus for this active pup. If you believe you're the perfect match for Owen, please reach out to our adoption team to learn more about this exceptional dog.  In the meantime, be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! Story
Meet Sammi! Sammi is a young shepherd mix who spent 6 months at a southern CA shelter with no adoption interest. Sammi was a rockstar at the shelter and was regularly used to test the temperament of other dogs entering the shelter. We knew Sammi would make a wonderful family dog and planned to get her up to Oregon. Once Sammi was safe and in a foster home down in CA, awaiting transport to OR she began having seizures. After spending a few days at an emergency clinic with round the clock care and numerous diagnostics done, no root cause of her sudden seizure onset was determined. Fortunately her seizures were under control with medication and she was healthy and could travel to Oregon. Since arriving in Oregon, Sammi has settled in wonderfully. Sammi enjoys training and has started working with a trainer on her basic obedience. Sammi is crate trained, house trained and walks well on leash. Sammi has been in a foster home for multiple months and while she loves meeting new dogs and going on adventures she is a dog that struggles a bit with new trasitions. Thats means a new family would would need to be willing to go slow and have multiple meetups with her, before she would be comfortable integrating into a new home. Sammi's ideal home would be with another playful dog or two, would not have children and a family willing to go slow with her as she adjusts to her new surroundings and people. It is unknown how Sammi is with cats but she can be cat tested for serious adopters. The medication Sammi takes seems to be the right dosage to prevent seizures and she has adjusted well. She will require taking medication long term and adopters should be prepared to work with their veterinarian on management of this. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Sammi's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Cats : Dogs : Yep!  Kiddos : Nope Adoption fee includes - spay/neuter, microchip & chip registration, UTD vaccines, de-worming, flea treatment, heartworm testing.  ##2011048##

Story
We have a transport set up to leave SoCal on 11/16/24 to NorCal and OR. We would love to add Oliver to our trip for the right family❤️ Travel costs are in addition to his adoption fee. Travel costs/adoption fee are always due when we arrive in person with your new baby in hand ❤️ Meet Oliver 💙 He is a handsome, sweet, kind-hearted, package of LOVE in the form of a 12 lb dog! He turns 1 on November 20th 2024 (Yes, right around the corner!) He is neutered, microchipped, current on all vaccines, had an overall physical exam which included the plucking of the hair from his ears, along with a dental exam (both ears, and teeth were in great health,) and has offically been cleared to find a home all his own 🙂 He is leash trained, and LOVES his walks. He is always ready to stroll around the neighborhood or sit in front of a coffee shop and people watch while you enjoy your favorite hot beverage ☕️ He is a total charmer, and especially loves when folks lock eyes with his because that's the green light for possible pet rubs (if mom or dad approves of course!) He is crate trained, and currently sleeps in his crate at night peacefully and without any fuss whatsoever. He will also nap in there during the day, or happily goes in his crate if you need to step out for dinner, or our id the home for any reason. He is very well behaved, and always does what is asked of him. He is house trained, and will sit at the back door, patiently waiting for his person to notice that he needs to potty. If you have a dog door, I'm certain he will learn it very quickly so that he can go in and out on his own, but if you don't he won't mind, as he is very patient ☺️ He is PHENOMENAL with other dogs, and cats alike. He LOVES every single animal he has met in the time he has been with us, and even lived with cats prior to coming here to us that he loved very much. He is great with men, women, and children alike. He loves to play ball and will fetch toys for you 😊 He is NOT high energy whatsoever, but sure does love to play. He definitely mellows out and relaxes after a good play session 🙌 He loves to follow you around and see all that makes your world function. He will lay at your feet, or lounge near by if you are busy with dinner, or work. He is very easy going and has a go with the flow personality. He is very affectionate, and has a very understanding heart and will let you talk to him as if he understood every word. (Maybe he does it be a he knows he gets extra pets during our talks, but we don't mind one bit because it's easy to love him ❤️) He is great on road trips around town, and will happily be a part of every adventure you take him on. He is wonderful during his spa days and always welcomes our groomer with kisses, and a wagging tail. He is NOT a barker, and is overall very quiet, and calm ❤️❤️❤️❤️ His prior owners lived a very busy life with 5 kids under 5 😅 and while they LOVED Oliver immensely they just couldn't give him the time he deserved to live a rich and fulfilling life. They didn't want him to feel left out, and they knew that's what was happening and it broke their hearts so they reached out to us to take him in and find him the best home and family we could ☺️ His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/oliver. It covers his neuter, general anesthesia, iv fluids, antibiotic shot given to aid in the healing of his neuter, his vaccines, his microchip and registration, exam with our vet (including his dental and ear exam), the plucking of the inside of his ears, and as always it helps cover the few months he has been here with us, and the training we have personally done with him 🙂
