Story
Mia is currently fostered in Kent Ohio, and his adoption fee is $150
Hello,
My name is Mia, I am a 7 yr old cockapoo that was surrendered to this rescue when my former owner was moving, and unable to take me with him.
I have always had anxiety issues, and have worked very hard on training in my former home. I did make a lot of progress, and was doing well with my former owner, whom I trusted very much. The transition into rescue and being placed into a foster home has been difficult on me, and I have regressed some. I need a very-very patient person that knows how to handle me correctly. I am not a dog that you can bring into your home, and start loving on right away. You can’t put sweaters or clothes on me like a “normal well-adjusted dog”. I am super cute, and people want to cuddle with and pet me right away, and because of my anxiety, I will get nippy, and most people will not tolerate that.
I need to be an only dog, I need a lot of time to get to know and trust people. I can be sensitive to being touched on my neck and face, and I should definitely not be around children. I can be very sweet and loving, but it has to be on my terms. I would make an excellent companion for someone that isn’t expecting a cuddly lapdog and can give me the time and space to adjust, which could easily take months. I am not a bad dog, I actually am well trained, I know sit, down, and walk well on a leash. I sit on command and take treats gently, I listen when told “no”, and like to play with my toys, I really can be a great dog! BUT, you need to be patient and understanding with me.
I have been groomed regularly by a groomer, but I do need a muzzle to do my feet.
If you think you are a good fit for me, fill out an application, and my foster mom will call you and do a phone interview to determine if we might be a good match together.
I am already spayed and up to date on vaccines.
