Story
Charlie (b. Nov 2017) is a 15-pound miniature poodle who is seeking a home with no kids, no dogs, and preferably female only.  Charlie has some quirky fears and would love an experienced pet owner who is willing to help him gain confidence.  He doesn't like to share his favorite things, but he has improved so much while in foster care!   Also on Charlie's wish list is an active person who enjoys lots of walking and going on adventures. He is up for anything, any time and is the perfect co-pilot when his foster mom has errands to run.  In fact, Charlie loves car rides so much that he'd be a great companion for a truck driver!  Charlie does well with most people and dogs in open social settings, but can become nervous in enclosed settings, especially with strangers.  These settings should be avoided to keep from overwhelming this sweet boy.   Charlie is solidly potty trained and doesn't chew things he's not supposed to, so he's safe to roam the house while you're gone up to 4-5 hours.  When you get home, he'll greet you with an excited happy dance and when it's time to settle in for some TV time, he's a perfect cuddler.   Charlie can be a talker at times, so no apartments where neighbors might be disturbed.  If his adopter works from home, it should be a job that won't be impacted if Charlie barks occasionally.  Charlie has SO many positive qualities and is such a smart boy!  He simply needs that special, patient someone to help him become the best Charlie he can be! The suggested adoption donation for Charlie is $315. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1256368##

Story
Welcome to rescue, Ellie!  Ellie is a senior Mini Poodle mix, born 2010.  Her previous owner developed health issues and can no longer care for her.  She is adjusting to her new surroundings and getting to know her foster family.  Ellie is a very sweet girl and just look at that face!!  She is only 16 pounds and needs to be in a home with older children only (age 13+).  She seems to fine with other dogs and cats, she just doesn't interact with them much - possibly because she can't see too well.  She has shown no aggression towards them.  She also has some hearing loss.  She walks great on a leash and she will go to the door when she needs to go outside - she just won't be able to wait long if you're not there to let her out.  She is 14 after all!  Ellie also take a Potassium Supplement every day. Ellie is looking for someone she can hang out with because she just seems to want to be with her person.  She follows her foster mom around and wants to stay close.  If you're looking for a sweet senior girl, Ellie would definitely make a great buddy!  The suggested adoption donation for Ellie is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Roma is a senior Wheaten, born JUne 2015.  Roma is a people lover and is looking for a social home.  She needs someone firm, but affectionate.  She likes to cuddle and play wrestle.  She needs a fenced yard so she can stretch her legs or she would be okay with a daily walk for some exercise.  She cannot be with other female dogs, but she might do well with a calm male dog of similar size (40 lbs) or larger.  She cannot be around cats or other pets because she has a strong prey drive. Roma gets along with strangers and older kids.  She does not have experience being around young children - she loves pre-teen and up (age 12+).  She is house trained, leash trained and knows the basic commands.  She does have a tendency to bark at times, so she probably needs to be in a house and not an apartment.  She does not counter surf!  Roma does very well at vet and grooming appointments. Roma is reactive to people leaving or people hugging (because this is usually a sign that someone is leaving).  She's also reactive to windshield wipers!!  Once you're out of the house, she does not seem to experience separation anxiety.   Potential adopter should be aware that Roma takes regular medication: Thytoid tabs for Hypothyroidism, Optimmune drops for dry eyes and Cytopoint for allergies. The suggested adoption donation for Roma is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.
