Story
Hello and Thank You for taking the time to stop and read about our sweet girl Tessa. Tessa is a 6 year old Hungarian Pumi. She is a very sweet girl. She is potty trained and crate trained. Tessa would need a backyard that is fenced so she can run and play ball. She loves curling up in bed and also knows how to sit, lay down and come. Tessa is up-to-date on her shots, is spayed, and also microchipped. Tessa would do well in a home where she is by herself. She can be very apprehensive around people when first meeting them but over time can adapt given the right home and loving environment. Tessa requires patience as it takes time for her to develop social emotional relationships due to her apprehensiveness. Given the right tender, love, and care I know Tessa would thrive and be a great companion. Tessa currently resides with my mother and due to her moving soon we are looking to rehome Tessa. We are not looking for a rehoming fee and are just wanting the best for Tessa.

Licorice/ Mini Poodle DOB 12/05/18 5lbs Neutered /Microchipped UTD on vaccinations Heartworm / Flea Prevenative Adoption donation: $400 (tax deductible) Please read the bio in its ENTIRETY. If you feel your family is a match, please send an email to gateway4paws@gmail.com for additional information. Only complete & qualified applications will be considered or contacted for adoptions. We are a 100% foster-based rescue. Applications can be found here on our website. We do not allow shipping & do not transport. You must live within 350 miles from Maryville, IL & able to drive for a meet and greet. Licorice is one of our longer foster residents, we owed it to him to give him plenty of time to decompress. We have taken a significant amount of time letting him acclimate to understanding being a pet & living in a home. He spent his younger days being a stud for a breeder, but now every day is leisure & playing with friends. His foster mom has reported a bit on his personality. He loves having furry friends of similar size in the home. We will require him to have canine friends, as he really looks to them for training & social cues. A secure physical fence will be required. Leash & harness training is not on the agenda. He doesn’t need a big yard; he just needs ample space to get some sunrays & do his potty business. His ideal home would be low-key and quiet. Licorice is going to be a hanging-out pal, not an activities partner. So, an active family would not be a good match. He is still quite fearful of hands but will let you pick him up to hold him. He is working on his potty-training routine; his foster mom says that the best plan right now is to continue letting him wear a belly band in the house. That alleviates quite a bit of stress for the humans & for Licorice. He has settled into the routine of his foster home quickly. He likes to be praised & responds well to words of affirmation. Anytime there is a change in their routine, dogs need a moment to adjust. Licorice is no different, but being the smart little dog he is, we think he will catch on quickly. Please let us know if you think your family is just the home he needs!
