Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Tippy needs: -Active adult home as I am a young girl and if children in the home need to be over 12 years old -A fenced yard -Someone home part of the day to continue working on my house training, but I am doing well! -A small playful dog friend Tippy is a sweet, cheerful little girl who’s ready to find her forever family! She’s about a year old, weighs 11 pounds, and is a mostly tan Chihuahua mix with adorable white tips on her feet—hence the name Tippy. Tippy came to SBRET from a local shelter with several other dogs from the same house. She has settled beautifully into her foster home. She was shy and skittish at first, and she can still get nervous with loud noises or too much excitement. When she gets startled or overly excited, she may have a small potty accident, but she is making great progress with her house training. She uses the fenced backyard to do her business and is learning what this whole “leash” thing is about—she’s unsure for now, but with patience and gentle practice, she’ll catch on. This little girl LOVES to play! Toys, chew bones, and zoomies are all on her favorite’s list. She enjoys other dogs and would happily play with them, though the older dogs in her foster home aren’t quite up for her puppy energy. She’s also very affectionate and absolutely melts for belly rubs. Tippy would thrive in an active home and would likely do well with older, gentle children, as she is friendly and eager to interact. At night, she goes right into her crate and sleeps soundly until morning. When Tippy goes to her new home it’s going to take her just a few days to warm up but if you’re patient with her, she will be your best little buddy ever! Tippy has been spayed and is up-to-date on all her vaccinations and preventatives. Now she’s ready for her forever home—could that be with you? Tippy’s adoption fee is $175.

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Buckaroo needs: -An active adult home with everyone stable on his/her feet -No apartments -Someone willing to continue leash and potty training -Children over 12 years old -Someone home most of the day would be ideal Buckaroo is a remarkable russet colored, handsome 1-year-old, male Chihuahua weighing about 7.5 lbs. He was owner surrendered due to changes in the owner’s health. He has only known great care and loving attention so his outlook on life is positive and exuberant. He hasn’t had a great deal of consistent training in potty habits or obedience, but he’s very smart and has shown he wants to please his foster mom. He is improving daily on learning basic commands and is doing very well on potty training if taken outside in a consistent manner. His leash walking is also showing success so his future forever home will need to reinforce this progress as they get to know and love him. He literally thrives on receiving praise! He loves just about everyone and settles in quickly with new people. Once bonding is accomplished, he will stick with you in the house and loves to sit with you on the couch, a chair, or just be in the same room. He is currently crate-trained at night and during periods when people are out of the house. He loves and needs walks/exercise on a leash to help with his high energy level. Safe chew toys are advised! He really enjoys crinkle toys too. We suspect that food puzzle-type toys would be a big hit with him. He’s smart! Because he doesn’t always follow commands yet, being leashed is a must — a new owner absolutely MUST ensure that doors are not opened unless he is secured on a leash since he still tries to dart out the door. If he escapes, it is likely that he will just keep going. Young children are not advised for this reason. He is learning the commands BACK, SIT, and STAY, but he hasn’t mastered these commands. He doesn’t bark just to make noise; however, he can have a large voice so apartments are not a good idea. He’s happy to play with other dogs with a comparable energy level…older dogs might find him too intense/active. He also LOVES cats and has kitty friends in his foster home; however, the kitties there are very dog savvy so not all cats might appreciate his energy level or attention. He’s neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccines and flea/heartworm meds. His adoption fee is $175. Buckaroo is a loving, active, and adorable young boy who is just waiting for an active home to appreciate his remarkable personality. If you are willing to enjoy a lifetime with a loving, loyal, and smart companion, Buckaroo might just be perfect for you!

Story
Adoption Area: East Tennessee Kanga needs: Fenced Yard Adult only home No large dogs Hi, I’m Kanga! I am a 2 year old, 13 lb Chihuahua mix and I came to SBRET after I gave birth to my very last litter of puppies. I am done raising them and now I can focus on me. I’ve been in my foster home for a few weeks now and foster mom is learning all about my personality. She has learned: -I love her and foster dad. -I’m doing great on house training -I do not like strangers coming over & need consistent reminders not to bark. -I most definitely think kids are scary. -I love to chew on my bones & toys. -I want to initiate play with my tiny foster brother. -I don’t care for big or pushy dogs. -I like walks but bounce around a lot on the leash & think the greenway is frightening. -I sleep well in my crate. -I can be mischievous & chew things I shouldn’t. -I am super smart & and love learning new things. My future home needs to have a fenced yard and I would love to share it with another small dog who wants to play but isn’t pushy about it. I also would be happy with a home full of stuffies and good bones! I am spayed, up to date on all my vaccinations, and heartworm negative. If you sound like a good fit please fill out an application today to give me a home for the holidays! My adoption fee is $175.
