Meet Rachel..... What a pretty girl Rachel came from a puppy mill in Wisconsin. We have been receiving a ton of calls lately from mills. Alot of pet stores have been closing lately and hopefully this will slow down the mills from over producing pups in the near future. The pups that we typically take in are pups not choosen for pet store or private sales, this can be due to color, size, personality or age of the pup not meeting the breed specific requirements. Rachel is a 11 week old female Puggle. A Puggle is a Pug / Beagle cross.. We estimate her full growth weight to be around 15 pounds. She is considered a full shedding pup. Rachel is doing really well in her foster home, she is adjusting well and playing with toys and the other pups in that home. Rachel will be very popular and adopted quickly. Using a wee wee pad and the outdoors for potty training. Another TINY cutie this week! 4m old Max a baby Puggle/Doxie/Chi who sadly was dumped at a kill shelter after owner was given him as a gift from a friend and could no longer keep because they wanted an older dog! He was given to Rock n' Rescue after her owner dumped him after a friend "gifted" the pup for no reason - luckily our southern partner stepped in to help and let us know he was safe and happy and ADORABLE - he then entered our rescue program and were super spoiled because they simply deserved to be over loved after his sad story! He was given the best of the best care and now he is ready to be a big boy all on his own. Max is at 9 lbs so perfect size for a new family looking for a small dog!! He is simply kisses love and cuddles! SOOOO SWEET and will be perfect for those looking for all around great family dog as as he is small for life and is super trainable at this young age! He is very playful and would love an active family preferably with another playful dog as he is happy with dogs and kids and loves to be a part of the whole family. He is crate and house training very well - almost 100% perfect and is just a smart lil' dude when it comes to training. Can't be a better fit for most families! His foster reports, "If you're looking for a fun little guy, you've met your match! Max is always up for play and cuddles. He is super affectionate and likes toys and to be a couch potato too. He is a VERY good boy who is almost 100% potty trained and loves all other pets and people so he's ideal for most families! He might be too enthusiastic for a home with older pups, but he is the perfect fit for a family with dog-savvy children who can match his puppy energy.." Max is truly special and are coming a long way for love. Again he will likely grow to be a small/med dog under 30lb dog - not super small but not too big. WE DO NOT DNA TEST for breeds so you adopt and love what you get no matter what tests tell you or do not apply... Max has had vaccines and been neutered and he has been microchipped and given all preventatives. Minimum donation required. Out of state adopters MUST pick up in Bedford Hills NY - no exceptions. Pecan is a 1 1/2 yr old mix breed hound with a lot of personality! She came to the shelter with a few other dogs from a hoarding situation of twenty dogs. She's clearly had puppies but is sick of mom life.She likes the one remaining dog at the shelter that was from her pack but has not been making friends easily with our other adoptables. We think she's ready to be someone's one and only baby and she certainly deserves it. She's still a bit skittish, but has mastered walking on a leash and loves to get pet and cuddled by people once she trusts them. Sky is a nervous little 7 year old mixed breed looking for just the right quiet understanding home. She's been loved in a home, but sadly didn't adjust well to the new baby and with her scared and easily startled nature it wasn't a safe or comfortable situation for anyone, especially her. So she's in search of a calm adult forever child-free home where she can have her own room or space on the occasions children or groups of strangers might visit. Once she bonds she's a sweet silly loyal girl who does best with just her chosen one or 2 people. Parties and crowds aren't her thing, she would much prefer to nap on her bed while you toss her some of your popcorn and watch movies together. She enjoys car rides and hikes and walks in quiet areas. She's more nervous of larger dogs but can get along with calmer smaller dogs and even cats with proper intros and supervision- anything and anyone new is something scary to be barked at at first until she's shown they aren't a threat. She LOVES food, and is quickly won over with some cheese, chicken, dog treats, pizza, ice cream...pretty much anything. Food = friend, and the best way to win her over and get her to be less afraid is through her stomach (and definitely do NOT take away her food- she is gentle taking her treats, but once they are in her possession she's not going to share).
