Story
Hi, I’m Bobbles, 2.5 years old, and 18 lbs of sweetness and perfection – at least that is what my foster mom tells me. I had a tough start to life and survived a distemper infection when I was a puppy. That left me with something called myoclonus which is an involuntary, rhythmic, or sporadic contraction of muscles, so basically, I’m twitching all the time. Or you can just play some music and say I’m dancing. The distemper also caused some tooth abnormalities, but RCHS gave me an extensive dental so I am good to go for a while now in that regard. My foster mom was curious about my breed mix, so she sent my cheek swabs off for DNA testing. Apparently, I’m chihuahua/pit bull, which I guess makes sense given my short and stocky physique. However that happened, I feel kinda sorry for my mom, especially if she was the chihuahua. But in any case, I’m so happy to be here, and the result was a stupendously cute dog, if I do say so myself!! I love everyone I have met so far, as well as cats and dogs. I especially enjoy playing with my foster brothers and sisters and would prefer to have a playmate. I have a bad tendency of trying to wander off when I am outside, so a fenced yard is a must – I can’t help it, I’m just a curious little thing and I'm ever-searching for the best sunny spot to have a little nap. All and all, I’m super excited that I’m ready to find my forever family! Story
Hi, my name is Eloise! I'm a 4-5lbs, ~10 year old, pretty & petite princess! Though I'm a shy girl, I am so full of love, snuggles, and kisses. Once I’ve chosen my person and feel safe in my home, my personality truly blooms into something so wonderful! I’ll be the first to admit I'm a nervous girl. The world can be scary for a small pup like myself, but I’ve found ways to conquer the world, one paw at a time. One of those things includes my sister, Bernadette. If she and I are not adopted together, I will need another small dog in the home to help me continue my bravery. It’s important that I meet my new 4-legged companion before committing & it’s important that any potential pup matches are similar to my size. Once I warm up, I truly am such a fun girl. Though I don’t like to share my love with everyone, my 'chosen-person' will always feel like the luckiest person in the world! I do occasionally offer my presence to strangers, when Bernadette shows me it’s okay, but I prefer to stay by my mom. I absolutely love playing in the comfort and safety of my backyard. My foster mom calls me her 'little deer/dear' because I hop and prance around like Bambi. It’s important that I'm supervised in the backyard, as I am the perfect size for a hawk to swoop me up. I don’t enjoy walks as much, as I’d rather be in the arms of my human, but rest assured, I know it’s zoomies time when I’m unleashed in the yard! My ideal adopter will either adopt Bernadette & I together, or will have another little & submissive 4-legged companion at home to show me the world. I need someone that is patient, kind and soft spoken, and someone who understands that I’ll need some time to warm up. I will also need to be in a home without children & large pets. If you’re ready to adopt me (& potentially Bernadette), please reach out today! Story
Hello, my name is Bernadette! I'm an 8lbs, ~10 year old, chihuahua mix. I’ve been told I'm on the list of 'The Best Chihuahuas Ever', but personally, I think I OWN that list! I love pretty much everything, you name it. Food, toys, walks, people, strangers, farmers markets, car rides, and the list goes on. I say I love strangers, but in all honesty, I’ve never truly met one — everyone is my friend instantly! I love to share my love & I love to be loved. I’m also a pretty active Chihuahua. You can find me walking the City Park loop several times a day, or playing in the backyard with the neighbor dogs, learning new tricks ('Spin' is my favorite), or conquering treat puzzles. I have a busy brain & body and I like to be entertained! No stress though, I’ve mastered the art of cuddling too — just be warned: I like to be as close to you as possible! I’d like to be adopted with my sister, Eloise. You can find her bio posted on the RCHS page as well. Eloise considers me her 'rock' and safe place, and follows after me, so she knows new things/people are safe. Both of us need a home without children, but we do great with other dogs! We are the funnest, sweetest, most adorable chihuahuas — some may even consider us the “best” chihuahuas😉 If you are interested in adopting this dog, please fill out our application here: http://www.rchsks.org/our-animals/adopt-a-pet/adopting-a-dog.
