Hi. My name is Poppy, and I am a Pug/Chihuahua mix.  I am 14 months old, weigh about nine pounds and everyone says I am cute as a button and full of personality. I love to play, take walks, ride in the car, and snuggle. I have a lot of foster mutt siblings at my foster home. I like most of them, but one is really big. Foster mama says he weighs thirty pounds! She tells me he is very friendly, but I am not so sure of that, so I have to show him who’s boss. Foster mama says I can be protective of my favorite human around the other resident mutts. She says it's understandable because I didn't have the easiest past and so I want to make sure I keep tabs on the nice humans.  My best fit forever family or human would be a patient and loving adult or adults, maybe with another dog my size.  I like treats, lots of cuddles, and sleeping curled up with my human. I also like to go wherever my human is going. Sometimes I dash out the door in excitement, but I come back when mama calls. My new family will have to understand that I am just a little thing. The world can be scary, and I need to show how brave and fierce I am. (Mama says that is the Chihuahua in me.) Get ready to fall in love! Zep, a 3-year-old, 20-pound bundle of love, is making his way from New Mexico to Colorado on 12/4, and he’s ready to meet his forever family. Zep is a petite guy with a heart as big as the Rockies. His playful, curious nature makes every day an adventure. Whether it's a leisurely walk, exploring the backyard, or curling up by your side for a cozy evening, Zep is always ready to be your loyal companion. He's been great with other dogs too! This little guy is as smart as he is sweet, and he’s excited to show off his personality in his new home. Zep would thrive with a family who can continue his journey of love and learning. He’s great with other dogs, loves to cuddle, and is ready to bond with the people who will show him the good life. We'd like to place Zep in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Zep has been fully vetted, is up to date on his vaccines. He is not neutered yet, but will be done at no-cost to his adopter with our rescue vet. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
