We knew we could give him a fabulous second chance and away we went! Resolution weighs 16 pounds and has that adorable Pug face that breed lovers will fall madly in love with. He made himself feel right at home from the second he entered his foster home. He loves his humans and is always down for cuddles or scratches. He romps around the backyard happily for hours with his toys and his inquisitive nature. Resolution adores his foster brother and they happily play together for hours. At the end of the day, he’s ready to cuddle with you on the couch. Resolution would love to join an active home who wants to take him on adventures and outings.  Resolution wakes up at 7 AM and goes outside for a potty break before he has breakfast. During the day, he alternates between playing with his toys, lounging on his bed, and hanging out with his humans. He goes on an afternoon stroll during lunchtime and then occupies himself until his humans finish their workday. He has dinner at 5 PM followed by another walk. In the evening, he enjoys a snack and then cuddles with his foster parents until he is ready for bed.  Resolution lives with two dogs and does well with them. He plays well with humans of all ages. Resolution walks well on a leash. He is working on his potty training. He would be an amazing addition to a home ready for a new best friend who’s just so excited to meet you! If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.  Adoption fee: $500 *Starfruit is an option for FTA!* Starfruit is a 5-6 year old Chug who was surrendered to one of our rescue partners and brought into DPS Rescue. She weighs about 15 lbs and could stand to lose a few; we suspect her former owner's love language was food! She was quite overwhelmed when she first arrived but her foster home has really helped her settle in. Here is their report! Starfruit is an incredibly sweet, easy-to-manage, and loving pup with a naturally shy demeanor. When she first arrived, she was very timid— spending her first day in her crate, hesitant to let us near her. On the second day, I approached her gently to make her feel safe. I was able to pick her up and hold her and slowly, she began to trust me. Now, she has completely blossomed! She follows me everywhere like a little shadow and sleeps right beside me. She absolutely loves her walks and eagerly comes to me for pets every three hours. Starfruit is also incredibly smart— she picks up commands quickly, usually after hearing them just twice. She is a total cuddler, always wanting to be close. She's not a huge fan of her kibble but will eat it with a meal topper. She is an affectionate, well-mannered companion who has come such a long way since her first day.   Starfruit is quite the sleepyhead, spending about 18 hours a day snoozing! Her daily routine is simple yet structured. She starts her day with a potty break at 10 AM, followed by her first meal. Throughout the day, she enjoys lounging in her bed, primarily in the living room, though she loves to follow me around the house. Her second potty break happens at 4 PM, and then again at 8 PM. Dinner is served between 7–8 PM, giving her enough time to relax before settling in for the night. When it's bedtime, she cozies up in her bed beside me, ready for another restful night. Starfruit’s routine is easygoing, just like her! Starfruit is a total couch potato but she loves to go on walks and does a cute happy dance whenever her leash comes out! She walks well on leash unless startled by a scary noise or intimidating human. Starfruit appears to be housebroken and is comfortable with her crate or staying alone in her playpen. Her foster mom says: 'I fell in love with her because she ticked off every reason to fall in love with her. She is disciplined, if you teach her, she will learn, if you scold her, she understands, all she wants is your love, cuddles and daily belly rubs. She is the sweetest, and I am lucky to foster her!'   Starfruit is best suited to a home with some prior dog experience in their lifetime. She is an option for kids over the age of 8, provided they are the gentle sort.    March 5, 2025, 2:47 pm

If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $600 Meet Shepherd’s Pie – The Ultimate Recipe for Love! *Shepherd's Pie is an option for Foster-to-Adopt!* Shepherd’s Pie, or Shep as we like to call him, is a perfect 30-pound bundle of joy, charm, and playful energy. At 1 year old, he’s got just the right mix of youthful enthusiasm and well-mannered maturity, making him an ideal companion for just about any home. Shep was rescued from a high-kill shelter, but you’d never know it from his sunny disposition—this boy lives every day like it’s the best day ever! A Day in the Life of Shep Mornings with Shep begin with soft little sounds from his crate around 7:45 AM, letting us know he’s awake and ready for the day. He patiently waits to be let out before greeting his humans with full-body wiggles, tail wags, and happy kisses. After a quick potty break in the yard, he enjoys breakfast side by side with his 55-pound American Bully foster sister—both eating respectfully and sometimes sneaking glances at each other’s bowls. Once breakfast is done, he’s off for a second potty break and then playtime, either with his foster sister, his beloved chew toys, or by zooming around the backyard. A morning walk is one of Shep’s favorite parts of the day. He runs over eagerly when he sees his harness and leash, knowing it’s time to explore. Shep is curious about everything—he loves sniffing the world, meeting new people, and making friends with other leashed dogs. He doesn’t chase squirrels and has made great strides in his leash manners, improving every day with treats and encouragement. The rest of Shep’s day is a perfect balance of play and relaxation. He rotates between romping in the yard, chewing on his favorite toys, and curling up for cozy naps in the family room. His favorite place to nap? Right next to his people, preferably on a soft blanket on the couch. If he gets a little too enthusiastic during playtime, he’s easily redirected or content to settle down with a good chew toy. He’s learning when to take breaks, and his foster sister is helping him master the art of the well-timed nap. Dinner rolls around at 4:30 PM, and Shep is always ready for it! Evenings are filled with more play, snuggles, and winding down with his humans. By bedtime, he’s happily curled up in his crate, sleeping peacefully until morning. Shep’s Personality: A Big Heart in a Medium-Sized Body From the moment he arrived in his foster home, Shep’s playful and affectionate nature shined through. He was immediately drawn to his foster sister’s toy basket, joyfully pulling out every single neglected treasure as if he’d just discovered the world’s best surprise. His love for play is matched only by his love for people—he adores human company and wants to be wherever the action is. If someone is cooking, he’ll pop in to check on them. If someone moves to another room, he’s likely to follow just to see what’s going on. He’s a social butterfly, always curious and engaged. Shep is also incredibly smart. He already knew “sit,” “shake,” and “down” when he arrived, and he’s quickly learning new commands like “go to your crate.” He pays close attention when you talk to him, often tilting his head in that adorable way that makes it seem like he’s really trying to understand every word. He responds well to both food and play as training rewards, making him a joy to work with. At his core, Shep is a happy, loving dog who thrives on companionship. Whether he’s greeting you with excited wiggles, curling up beside you for a nap, or gazing up at you with his soulful eyes, he makes it impossible not to smile. Shep & Friends: Dogs, People, and Adventures Shep is a social pup who enjoys the company of other dogs. He and his foster sister play well together, and he’s respectful when she needs a break. He’s met other dogs on walks and at a friend’s house, always excited and eager to make new friends. When it comes to people, Shep is an absolute sweetheart. He has happily welcomed friends and family of all ages into his foster home, and he’s always ready to shower his humans with affection. He hasn’t been around young kids yet, but given his gentle and loving nature, he would likely do well with dog-savvy children. Shep has also proven to be a great car companion. Whether he’s crated or riding shotgun, he’s calm and curious, making him a great travel buddy for future adventures. The Perfect Home for Shep Shep would love a home where he can get plenty of playtime, walks, and affection. A house with a backyard would be ideal so he can romp around and get his zoomies out, but he’d also do well in a home where his humans are committed to regular walks and enrichment. He thrives on companionship, so he’d be happiest in a home where someone is around to spend time with him. Shep is looking for a family who will continue to build on the great progress he’s made, helping him grow into an even more confident and well-mannered pup. In return, he promises to fill your home with laughter, love, and plenty of tail wags. If you’re ready for a playful, loving, and endlessly entertaining companion, Shepherd’s Pie is waiting to meet you!Shepherd Pie is an option for a home that has dog experience. If there are children they need to be over the age of 5.March 6, 2025, 6:10 pm
