Story
Foster Update: Hi! Raleigh is a very good dog! First, he loves to go outside and sniff a lot on nice walks. He can be a bit stubborn, but does not pull. He gets along great with other people and seems fine with other dogs. He does best in a harness because of his fat neck. He is very overweight. He likes to watch TV and he barks at any dogs that bark on screen! He is very affectionate and likes to be around his people, including at night. He is not a fan of being crated and will bark. 10 years old, house trained, good with kids & dogs, no cats. SIR RALEIGH, as his owner affectionately called him, was surrendered when his owner could no longer care for him. He arrived with his housemate, Bruno, and these two may be adopted together or separately. He is good with kids & dogs but no cats, please! Raleigh is house trained and gets nervous riding in cars. Raleigh was so happy to see me heading for him, he barked in excitement. Easy on the leash, we pleasantly walked along to the yard where he enthusiastically sniffed and ran around. He is XL for a little guy and bc of this is considered borderline diabetic so interested families should be ready for lots of walks, exercise and watching his diet.  He can be trusted free to roam in the home and even knows how to use a doggie door! Raleigh loves his person so much he can be a little protective of him or her but it happens only when they are home. As an older dog, he is experienced in living with a family and being part of a family but advanced age can bring about health issues so please be prepared for this.  Raleigh is a fun and happy dude ready to move on. His smile is awesome and his energy is warm. If you are interested in Raleigh, please come meet him in our small dog adoption kennel.  341 S Birdneck Road, VB Open daily 12-5 pm.        Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 2, 2024, 6:29 pm

Story
Bodhi is ready for adoption. He’s a 2-1/2 year old, 50 lb. Boston/Pit Bull mix who is housebroken, neutered and UTD on vaccines. Bodhi was aggressive towards other dogs. He even attacked a dog. Bodhi went through an intensive four-week board and train program with a professional trainer. He has not had an aggressive episode since completing training. He receives periodic sustainment training, and has even made some dog friends at the training facility. Bodhi and his foster dad enjoy walks through downtown Fredericksburg where they encounter hundreds of people, dogs, motorcycles, and other loud things. Bodie loves going to Home Depot and his behavior has been perfect. Everyone who meets Bodhi loves him because he’s so handsome and sweet. He is a favorite among his trainers. Bodhi will thrive in a home where he is an only pet and has room to play. Bodhi enjoys being close to his humans and loves being petted. He knows the heel command, walks at his foster’s side, and rarely notices other dogs now. Since he’s a young dog with lots of energy, Bodhi would benefit from having a fenced yard. Bodhi is fostered in Stafford, VA. If you feel you are the right family for Bodhi, please email odbtr1@gmail.com or bostonlover02@comcast.net to request a Word or PDF format application. ________________________________________

Story
per is ready to find her home. She’s a healthy 7 y/o, 17-pound girl who is spayed, housebroken and UTD on vaccines. Piper happens to be deaf and takes Prozac daily, but that doesn’t stop her from being a sweet and playful little girl. When she arrived, she was very fearful and reactive, and it took a while for her to warm up, but once she’s comfortable she will follow you around and jump up gently for pets. She can be a velcro dog and loves to snuggle up on the couch. Since Piper can be territorial around other dogs, she would be best as the only dog in an adult household. Piper feels safe in her crate and uses it as “her space” when she’s had enough family time and prefers her open crate as her nightly place to sleep. She is good with older children and since she cannot hear, a fenced yard is required, Requirements: Must have fence Child free or older children only Adopter must be a strong leader to guide Piper Should be the only dog or have adopters willing to take the time to slowly and properly introduce her to people and other pets Piper is fostered in Norfolk, VA. If you feel you are the right family for Piper and meet these requirements, please email odbtr1@gmail.com or bostonlover02@comcast.net to request a Word or PDF format application.

Story
Brody is ready to find his forever home. He’s a great 3 year old, 31 pound boy who is healthy, UTD on vaccines and house trained. Brody came to us when one of his owners who had dementia, would become violent, yell and throw things at him. Brody understandably became fearful and distrustful in this environment. Since being with his foster family, Brody is no longer afraid of being harmed. He’s good with other dogs, but as an alpha would need a submissive sibling. Older children are ok; his compatibility around cats is unknown. Brody would be just as happy as the only boy in the home as long as he has an active family who can give him an outlet for his energy. He is good on a walk although he does pull since he’s so energetic and will require a fenced yard. Brody is a good, sweet boy who loves to cuddle and does well going on car rides. He would benefit from a strong leader who will give him plenty of positive reinforcement. Brody is fostered in Norfolk, VA. If you feel you are the right family for Brody, please email odbtr1@gmail.com or bostonlover02@comcast.net to request a Word or PDF format application.
