Story
Jessie is a spirited and affectionate 1-year-old, 38-pound puggle with a zest for life! Her lively personality and playful energy make her a joy to be around. Jessie has a big heart and an even bigger love for people—she doesn’t believe in personal space, preferring to shower her humans with kisses and cuddles whenever she can.She enjoys playing with other dogs but has a tendency to be a bit dominant, so she’ll thrive best with playmates who can match her energy and confidence. Jessie is looking for a home where she can share her endless affection and playful spirit with a family who will adore her as much as she adores them.Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Nim came to is as a breeder release. His mom has been adopted and he is now ready to find his forever home. Nim is super playful and would do best in a home with another dog to play with. We expect that he will stay on the small side so young children would not be the best situation for him. Nim is a year old and his adoption fee is $400. ##1725829##

Story
Poppy is 2 year old 45 pound adorable squatty bulldog cross (?) best guess! She was lost in the woods around a Dallas aquestrian center and survived on her own for over a year! She was in pretty rough shape when rescued but is now on the mend. Corrective eye surgery for the bilateral cherry eyes is on March 20, 2025, and she will be ready for heartworm treatment soon. She came to us very shut down and non reactive to people or other dogs. She seems to really like human men! Women are ok, too, though, but men are her favorite. She is not reacitve to dogs around her but does not want them in her face. She is still decompressing and learning to trust.   Poppy has settled into the most amazing foster home but is still available for adoption. She will be undergoing Heartworm Treatment in mid April and will be ready to start her new life as a healthy loved member of a loving family by Mid May!  Her foster home has two small senior dogs and a 10 year old child which she does fine with. ***We are also hoping to find a sponsor for her medical care which has been out of the ordinary for us and expected to total $4,000. We couldn't leave her out in the woods any longer or to die alone in a crowded shelter. Please consider fostering, fostering to adopt or sponsoring her medical care. www.dsda.org/donate.   To meet Poppy in person visit us at www.dsda.org/adopt and submit our online application today.  ADOPTION FEE Covers: Core vaccines plus Lepto and Flu, all boosters, microchip, dewormer until clear fecal test & spay or neuter when completed by a DSDA vet partner plus any necessary medical care.  All dogs are on flea, tick and heartworm prevention and you receive the following month's preventatives complementary with your adoption!  * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be home more than not. Vet checks are required! All resident pets in the applicant's home MUST be spayed or neutered, core vaccines up to date and dogs on heartworm prevention to be considered! No exceptions.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. All poisonous plants must be removed from the yard.  DSDA is located in Dallas and requires a home visit on every adoption so only adopt to Dallas and surrounding areas. ##2311949##
