Story
Eight-year-old Abby is a laid-back and affectionate senior who loves cuddling up to her humans at every opportunity. This cute little couch potato prefers a relaxed and quiet home where she can sit in comfort, be doted upon, and sleep next to her people at night. Abby has ladylike mealtime manners, is housetrained, and is crate trained, though she can be trusted to roam the house freely. She does fine on a leash, but isn’t the biggest fan of going for walks, as they interfere with her lounging time. Abby would make the perfect low-maintenance companion for a family who is home frequently and as chilled-out as she is. Although she is cordial with other animals, we think she would love being the only pug. If you’d like to give Abby the princess treatment and receive lots of snorts and snuggles in return, apply for her at dfwpugs.com.

Story
Two-year-old Tater has a confident and outgoing disposition as well as a “plush potato” body type (as described by his foster dad). This plush Tater enjoys following his humans from room to room, playing with children and other dogs, scarfing down his food, sunbathing and frolicking in the backyard, going for walks, chewing on bones and squeaky toys, and pawing at his people when he wants love, attention, and petting. When Tater gets excited about something, his good-natured enthusiasm gets the best of him and he turns into a tiny tank, charging straight through a crowd to get to it (and startling other pets who may be in his path). He is housetrained and crate trained, though he doesn’t enjoy being crated and will inform you of that fact. Given his highly social nature, Tater’s ideal forever family will ensure he frequently has companionship at home. They’ll also let him sleep in the human bed and lounge on the couch. Tater’s foster dad refers to him as a “big round potato full of love,” and who wouldn’t want to have one of those in their home? Apply for your very own plush potato at dfwpugs.com.

Story
Seven-month-old Hemingway is an active and outgoing boy who isn’t shy about asking for affection! When he’s not sitting in his foster mom’s lap while she’s working from home, Hemingway enjoys socializing with other dogs, going for walks, barking at cats, and chewing on bones. He has a tendency to wolf down his food but is now savoring his meals with the help of a slow feeder. Hemingway is making progress with his housetraining. He does not enjoy being crated (and will give a cute little howl to tell you so), but will sleep soundly in a playpen. His ideal forever family will have at least one person at home most of the time to provide him with plenty of attention, continue with his training, and ensure he gets ample exercise. If you’d like to adopt this tiny boy with a big heart and personality, apply for Hemingway at dfwpugs.com!

Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
When five-month-old Hercules arrived at a Dallas animal shelter as a stray, he had been ravaged by mange and worms, and had almost no fur. Fortunately, things are looking up for this adorable pug mix, who has a beautiful new coat, is living the carefree puppy life, and is showing his enthusiastic and social personality! In his leisure time, Hercules loves to visit the dog park and chase other dogs, go for walks, fetch balls, and play with plush and squeaky toys. Because he is a total smarty pants who is also treat-motivated, Hercules has quickly mastered potty training and a variety of commands including sit, stay, and fetch. He sleeps soundly in a playpen through the night, and doesn’t snore. Due to his youthful age, Hercules’ ideal forever family will have at least one person at home most of the time to provide him with consistent exercise, training, and socialization. Because he enjoys the company of other dogs, he would be the best match for a family that has another friendly and playful dog at home or that can bring him to a dog park or dog daycare frequently. In classical mythology, Hercules was famous for his strength and for his far-ranging adventures. We think that this strong boy has more than lived up to his name, and now he’s ready to have far-ranging adventures with a loving family! If you’d like to adopt Hercules, apply for him at dfwpugs.com.

Story
Two-year-old Lance is looking for a forever family who’s as loving, playful, and active as he is! Lance is an on-the-go type of guy who enjoys playing with other dogs, jumping, engaging in tug-of-war, chewing on toys, and going for walks. Given his high activity level, it’s no wonder he’s always hungry! When Lance isn’t zooming around, he wolfs down his food quickly and then tries to “sample” from other dogs’ bowls. He is housetrained, crate trained, comes when called, and “has a great attitude” according to his foster mom, which has helped him overcome challenges from his former life. Lance came into the rescue as a neglected boy who suffered from mange. Thanks to medications and medicated baths, his new jet-black coat is growing in beautifully! Lance’s ideal forever family will need to continue with his medication regimen for a couple more months, until his skin has fully healed. They’ll also ensure he gets plenty of exercise and companionship from people and other dogs, as the solo, sedentary life doesn’t suit this outgoing and adventurous boy. If you’d like to help Lance make a fresh start and gain an enthusiastic activity buddy for life, apply for him at dfwpugs.com.

Story
Shooter and Freckles are a charming twosome who are ready to start their new life together! Five-year-old Shooter (who has black fur) is a small guy with a big personality and oversized paws that he occasionally trips over. His hobbies include cuddling with people, pulling every single toy out of the toybox until the toys are spread out as far as the eye can see, and playing with one toy after another. Three-year-old fawn girl Freckles has a quiet confidence, a more reserved and independent demeanor, and prefers routines to spontaneity. When she warms up, she shows her loving and loyal side. Both Shooter and Freckles love playing with other dogs, chewing on bones, showing off their smarts (they learn very quickly!), and going for walks. They are housetrained, crate trained, and eat their meals politely. Their ideal forever family will provide them with ample companionship, walks, and toys, toys, and more toys! They’ll also commit to giving Freckles her daily eye drops so that her eyes feel their freshest. If two pugs sound better than one, apply for Shooter and Freckles at dfwpugs.com!
