Meet Josie, an 8 week old pug mix puppy from the south of Texas-these guys are social and friendly, love to play and just too adorable. Josie is one of the largest of the litter and expected to be about 20 pounds. Josie has a very small "cherry eye", a painless condition that pugs are known for...we are planning on having it fixed when she is a little older (at our expense at our vet) and will be happy to discuss this further with adopter. PLEASE NOTE- AN APPLICATION FROM THE WEBSITE ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG IS REQUIRED prior to any meet and greet. Calling, emailing and using the “contact us” link is not useful and will delay your consideration in the adoption of the dog. Petfinder inquires are not sent to us. The adoption fee is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including age appropriate vaccinations, worming, flea/tick preventative and spay/neuter. Puppies under 6 months of age may go to adoptive homes before they are spayed/neutered with a spay/neuter contract. Adopters who choose to adopt a puppy that has not yet been spayed/neutered are subject to an additional deposit of $100 (refundable upon proof of spay/neuter prior to the contracted date.) Included in the adoption fee, the rescue will arrange spay/neuter by a partner vet at a predetermined appointment when the puppy is between 7-9 months of age. It is the responsibility of the adopter to bring the adopted puppy back to the rescue vet for spaying/neutering or, if they choose, to send verification from their own vet (at the adopter's own cost) that the puppy had been spayed/neutered. All of our dogs will be microchipped. APPLY AT ALMOSTHOMEDOGS.ORG (click on the word "Adopt" at top of page to find the dropdown menu with application) Because our dogs are in foster homes, applications are required prior to setting up any appointments. Please understand that we do our best to describe our dogs but often we rescue them with virtually no information about them and often our best educated guess can be challenging. Winifred or Winnie is a sweet girl that was surrendered when her owner could no longer care for her.  Winnie would do well in a home as a single dog or with one that is calmer and not high energy or in her face.  She would also do well with older children as she loves her people and to be part of a family.  She loves to take treats from your hand, snuggle in your lap, and does fantastic on car rides.  She is working on her routine and potty training so she will require a family that will get her into a schedule and work on her this with her.
