Story
This sweet little 1-year-old and 14 lb pug is from Bakersfield, California. He was surrendered to Shelter Hope by a breeder who never even gave him a name. We are calling him Dobby because much like the character from Harry Potter, he’s loyal, brings his own special kind of magic, and would love a sock to call his own (preferably one he can chew on!). Dobby is incredibly gentle, affectionate, and full of that classic pug enthusiasm everyone loves. He’s friendly, outgoing, and always up for fun. Dobby loves to run and play, and his goofy, quirky antics are sure to make you laugh. He does great with other dogs and enjoys being part of whatever’s going on, whether that’s zooming around the yard or quietly trailing behind you from room to room. Fixed, vaccinated, and microchipped, Dobby is ready for his forever family! ------- Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Step 1) Application Step 2) Phone Interview Step 3) Appointment Shelter Hope is operating by appointment only. Be ready to adopt: If selected, our rescue counselor will contact you to schedule a phone interview. Please monitor your email and spam folder for our message. Adoptions can happen quickly so be prepared for our call, only apply for dogs that every family member in the home wants, and wait to apply until you return from your vacation. More on our process: Due to high demand, especially for popular dogs, not all applicants will be contacted. Moreover, we may not reach out if we have already approved a family to adopt. The process can take several days. Thank you for your patience!

Story
Meet Davy Crockett, an adorable 17 lb Pug–Terrier mix full of charm, silliness, and personality! Davy was sadly found as a stray, abandoned in a field in the Bakersfield area. Despite everything he’s been through, he has remained sweet, joyful, and affectionate. This little guy is curious, gentle, and loves attention. Davy gets along wonderfully with cats, dogs of all sizes, and kids, and his foster says their 4-year-old nephew especially fell in love with him! Davy enjoys running in the backyard, playing with other dogs, and going on adventures. He is also the perfect cuddle buddy! Davy is fixed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to find his forever home! ------ Looking to Adopt? Submit a Rescue Questionnaire! Please be thorough in your answers. Story
Abandoned by his “family” for “no time” but they had him since he was 6 weeks old when they bought him from a breeder. He became inconvenient as a senior. He was so stressed and confused when he first came to us but he’s settled in nicely with his foster and he is an absolute pleasure. Such a snuggly little grandpa. He lights up when he is around children. And when you hold him, he is so soothing for the soul, he’s like a healing crystal. :) He came to us with major ear infections and a yuck mouth. He’s all good now.

Story
One lucky dog!!! She had been living on the streets in Chinatown near DTLA for several weeks. She was weary of people and would not come to anyone. Thankfully someone reached out to our friends at Hope For Paws and they were able to trap her. Once she was caught, she was so happy/relieved! She was infested with fleas, filthy and so grateful. We are really not sure on her breed/mix but she’s got the pug eyes and smile. She is extremely easy going with other animals and people.
