Story
FOSTER CARE! Hi, I'm Hagrid! I'm a 2.5 year old, neutered Pug/Terrier mix who weighs about 35lbs. I'm a happy, silly, confident dog with a lot of energy! I enjoy running and playing with people and dogs alike, so I would love to go home with an active family. I'm also a huge fan of belly rubs! Because I'm still working on my manners around food and small animals, I'd do best in an adults-only home, ideally with someone experienced with spunky dogs like me! I can't wait to find my fur-ever family! For more information about me, follow the steps below and be sure to ask for me: Hagrid ID# A924198 Since I’m not at the adoption center, you can make arrangements to meet me by emailing behavior@phs-spca.org You may also submit your fully completed Adoption Profile Form to behavior@phs-spca.org and a staff member will call you to conduct a phone interview before making an appointment to meet me in person. You must be 18 or older to submit a profile.  Application: https://phs-spca.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/AdoptionProfiles_dog2023_fillin.pdf *The application may not work on mobile devices and iPads. Please call (650) 340-7022 for assistance. Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around! To check on an animal's adoption status, please call 650-340-7022 during normal business hours to speak with an adoption counselor. Emails will be returned as soon as possible, but please allow up to 48 hours during busy adoption periods like weekends.December 19, 2024, 2:08 pm

Mitzvah was rescued from the shelter where she was surrendered for reasons unknown. What we do know is Mitzvah is ready to paw-ty it up with her new people! Mitzvah weighs 22 pounds and has that adorable Pug frowny face that those who love the breed will fall madly in love with. Our gal is pretty perfect in every way! Want to learn more about Marvelous Mitzvah? Keep on reading and then bring her home!     Mitzvah is a loyal and cuddly girl looking for her forever people to help her blossom! She loves her zoomies and her snuggles and she can’t wait to start her next chapter. She would be a fabulous option for someone who works from home and wants a buddy. She’s playful and energetic when she’s in the mood for her toys but can also be calm when she’s ready for some snuggles on the couch. She’d be thrilled to discover a chest of toys in her new living room once you take her home! Mitzvah is super smart as well, and is motivated by affection from her people. All she wants to do is make you happy and that makes her smile and wag her little tail! She would be a perfect addition to a home with a playful dog, as she can get down with the best of them. If you’re ready for a calm and cuddly little buddy who can keep you company on the colder winter nights, you’ve met your match with Mitzvah!  Mitzvah wakes up around 6 AM and goes out for play and potty before zooming back inside for breakfast. She gets free play until around 8 AM where she gets another walk around the apartment complex. While her foster mom works, she amuses herself with her toys and her naps. She is a champion snoozer! She goes out every few hours for potty breaks before she gets a long walk in the evening. She has dinner at 6 PM. In the evening, Mitzvah hangs out on the couch as she gets all the best snuggles. She gets herself ready for bed by going out once more for potty and then she heads into her crate for the night.  Mitzvah loves dogs of all ages and sizes and enjoys her playtime as often as she can. She plays with the resident cat. Older kids and adults who don’t instantly overwhelm her with attention would be her ideal forever environment. Our ideal home for Mitzvah is one where she can grow her confidence and thrive!      Mitzvah is only an option for homes who currently own a dog or have some experience with dog ownership. She would prefer a home without small children; teens are fine. December 19, 2024, 8:22 pm

These babies arrived at our rescue with Mama Squash at only a week old and have been raised in an amazing foster home ever since. This sister duo are now all grown up and ready to find amazing forever homes ready to shower them in love and kisses. We expect the puppies to be in the small-medium size range when fully grown. Homes with flat-face breed experience will be prioritized. Come order up some Squash today!      Acorn: Acorn is a playful and outgoing girl who’s ready to take on the world… after she gets her cuddles, of course! Acorn has a reddish coloring that absolutely shines as she races around the yard, chasing after her toys and her sister. Acorn captures all the eyes in the room as she demonstrates her playful antics, from snatching a toy bigger than her body in triumph to launching herself into your lap for cuddles. She is absolutely fearless and has no idea she isn't a “big dog” like her canine foster sibling. We know that Acorn will melt your heart with one blink of her puppy dog eyes. You’ll be helpless to resist her charms and will want to spoil her forever and ever!   Delicata: Delicata is a cuddly and loving princess who knows how to get down for a good snuggle! While this little lady loves to play her heart out in the yard, she’s also content to snooze the day away as she hangs out on your lap. She would be a fabulous WFH mascot as she’s always down to show off how adorable she is to her fans, both on and off camera. Prepare for an endless stream of admirers when you take on the town with Delicata. We know she will provide countless hours of fun and love. What more could you want from an adorable little Pug with a heart of gold!    The Squash puppies wake up around 7 AM after sleeping through the night in their pen. They have three meals during the day: 8 AM, 1 PM, and 5 PM. During the day, they cycle between playing with toys, cuddling with their foster humans, racing around the yard, and exploring their surroundings. They love their cuddle time and are always ready for a nap on a warm lap or blanket. They also follow around the resident dog. In the evening, they play some more and then watch TV with their foster people until they head into their pen for the night.  The Squash puppies have been well socialized with the resident dog and cat. They would be a fabulous addition to a home with a resident dog but could also fly solo. Interested homes should be prepared to discuss plans for continued training and socialization. Pug lovers won’t find a better puppy than a Squash Sister! Head down to the DPS Farmer’s Market and scoop up some Squash today!      The Squash puppies are only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 8. December 20, 2024, 1:23 pm

Story
Meet Suki, the cutest little Pug you’ll ever lay eyes on! She can't see you but she can't wait to meet you! This perfect little girl is all about spreading love and happiness. She adores gentle pets and will nudge you with her nose for more if you stop too soon! Suki is a social butterfly who gets along great with other dogs and wouldn’t mind sharing her space with a furry sibling. She’s got that classic pug charm—playful, cuddly, and oh-so-sweet. Whether it’s lounging by your side, going on a stroll, or just soaking up the sunshine, Suki is ready to be your new best friend. Here's some notes from her foster: Suki is a marvel. She has lived in two different shelters, is blind and hard of hearing, yet takes it all in her stride. She is unfailingly friendly and sweet, happy to relax and snuggle with her humans and comfortable meeting with new people and pups. When Suki first came home with us, she was understandably nervous and had trouble navigating her new space. Over the past two weeks with us, however, she has proven to be a bold explorer of her new home base, finding her way around and branching out into new areas. She does at times get confused/turned around and needs help finding her way to a good spot, but she is definitely getting better and better at mapping her space. She seems to be potty trained as long as she is able to go out at various times during the day. She had a few accidents while she adjusted to our place and we figured out when she was signaling that she needed to go out. Since then, everything has been going smoothly. She is very quiet. We have yet to hear her bark. She is the cutest sleeper, resting her face between her outstretched front paws. She naps multiple times a day, roaming around until either finds or falls into a comfy blanket or dog bed.

Story
English Bulldog Age: 2 yrs old Male, Neutered 33 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Otis was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. He was pretty healthy, but had a condition called “cherry eye” in both eyes. Our vet attempted to fix both eyes - the success rate for this repair is about 50/50. One eye is healing nicely, the other may not be so lucky, time will tell. Cherry eye is mostly a cosmetic issue, and doesn’t affect their ability to see. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. The only other observable condition, so far, is a flea allergy. Otis had a lot of energy, a lot of humping and marking before he was neutered. Within a week following surgery, there was a big difference in his behavior. He is young and still energetic at times, but he is also very sweet and loves to cuddle. We pulled Otis at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a female named Courtney, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Otis, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
English Bulldog Age: 5-6 yrs old Female, Spayed 38 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Courtney was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. She had an abscess on her paw that needed medical attention. Upon evaluation by our vet, it was observed that she also has dry eye syndrome, ectropion eyelids that turn in, but her corneas were in pretty good shape. There were also sutures still in place on her lower abdominal area. The incision was too small for a recent C-section and there were no other signs that she had been recently pregnant (although she has likely had puppies in the past). It could have been from a recent spay, but lab testing indicated that she was still intact. It is a mystery as to why the incision w/ sutures was there. Our vet spayed her and fixed her eyelids. She is on ointment and eye drops for the chronic dry eyes, but it is possible that this will correct itself over time. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. Courtney had some domination issues with the volunteers when she first came to us. After some consistent and stringent correction, that behavior considerably lessened, but she will need to be monitored when meeting strangers. Otherwise, she is very sweet and loves attention. We pulled Courtney at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a male named Otis, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.
