Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 25th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.       Adoption Fee: $750   The Ski puppies are a litter of 12 week old Pug mixes who are ready to hit the slopes with their new families! These babies came into our rescue at a month old with Mama Ski Bunny after being surrendered to the shelter, which is no place for a little family. We sprung into action and got them into a foster home, where they grew up into amazing little puppies. Heavenly weighs 7.2 lbs and will likely stay below 20 lbs when full grown.     Heavenly (F): Heavenly is ready to bring rays of sunshine and days of powder to her forever people! Unlike her boisterous siblings, Heavenly is most commonly found curled up with her humans as they chill on the couch. She does love to play, but she’s more likely to sniff around the yard and find sticks than get in the middle of a wrestling match. Like a baby, she plays peek-a-boo which is absolutely delightful. Heavenly loves rolling over and placing a tiny paw on your arm as you scratch behind her ears. She learned quickly that her puppy dog eyes and model poses can get her just about anything her heart desires, and she uses that power to get all the snuggles and treats! Ready to tackle all the black diamonds? Bring Heavenly and she will bless your ride!  Tahoe (M): Tahoe is an outgoing and loving gentleman who steals the spotlight wherever he goes! Tahoe loves giving kisses and rolls onto his back like a rolly polly whenever he thinks it’s time for more belly rubs (which is always). The only thing our boy loves more than snacks… is his people! Tahoe loves trotting behind his humans, tumbling over his adorable paws as he scrambles to keep up with the action. Tahoe has tons of puppy energy and loves to play, especially with stuffed toys and sticks he finds. Once our boy has gotten all his energy out, he is ready for a well-deserved snooze in your lap. We know that Tahoe would be the talk of any ski trip, as he tries to set a world record for fastest snowflake catching!      The Ski puppies wake up around 7 AM and get served breakfast as their pen is cleaned out. Once they finish eating, they are herded outside for potty and playtime. During the day, they cycle between playing with toys, cuddling with their foster humans, getting their zoomies out, and napping in an adorable pile. They eat again at 12 PM and 5 PM. In the evening, the pups get some one-on-one snuggle time with their foster humans as they start to unwind from the day. They go out for one last potty practice and then trot into their pen for the night by 10 PM.  The Ski puppies have been well socialized with dogs of all ages and sizes since they came into rescue. They love meeting new humans, young and old, and are the talk of every gathering. Interested homes should be prepared to discuss plans for continued training and socialization. The pups are all super food motivated so training should be a breeze! If you’re ready to grab a day pass for adventure, pick up a Ski puppy today!      The Ski puppies are only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 5.January 30, 2025, 6:03 pm

Story
English Bulldog Age: 2 yrs old Male, Neutered 33 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Otis was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. He was pretty healthy, but had a condition called “cherry eye” in both eyes. Our vet attempted to fix both eyes - the success rate for this repair is about 50/50. One eye is healing nicely, the other may not be so lucky, time will tell. Cherry eye is mostly a cosmetic issue, and doesn’t affect their ability to see. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. The only other observable condition, so far, is a flea allergy. Otis had a lot of energy, a lot of humping and marking before he was neutered. Within a week following surgery, there was a big difference in his behavior. He is young and still energetic at times, but he is also very sweet and loves to cuddle. We pulled Otis at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a female named Courtney, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Otis, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Story
English Bulldog Age: 5-6 yrs old Female, Spayed 38 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Courtney was found as a stray and turned into the local shelter. She had an abscess on her paw that needed medical attention. Upon evaluation by our vet, it was observed that she also has dry eye syndrome, ectropion eyelids that turn in, but her corneas were in pretty good shape. There were also sutures still in place on her lower abdominal area. The incision was too small for a recent C-section and there were no other signs that she had been recently pregnant (although she has likely had puppies in the past). It could have been from a recent spay, but lab testing indicated that she was still intact. It is a mystery as to why the incision w/ sutures was there. Our vet spayed her and fixed her eyelids. She is on ointment and eye drops for the chronic dry eyes, but it is possible that this will correct itself over time. English bulldogs in general often have LOTS of medical issues. Courtney had some domination issues with the volunteers when she first came to us. After some consistent and stringent correction, that behavior considerably lessened, but she will need to be monitored when meeting strangers. Otherwise, she is very sweet and loves attention. We pulled Courtney at the same time we pulled another English Bulldog, a male named Otis, from the same shelter. We thought that they may have come from the same home and were bonded. They do get along very well and probably bonded in a bulldog breed bonding sort of way. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13.
