Story
Snowman was found as a stray before coming to the rescue. We can’t be certain what his life was like before, but it seems like it’s been a while since he’s felt kindness from humans. He’s timid with introductions, but if you’re calm and patient with him, he’ll warm up and become relaxed and comfortable around you in no time! He loves cuddling and receiving belly rubs from the people he’s deemed trustworthy. Snowman was recently adopted, but became reactive with his new owner's friend, so they needed to rehome him. Snowman seems to prefer women to men and isn't very warm to strangers. However, “Snowy” is incredibly food motivated and he wanted us to let you know that treats are the way to his heart! Snowy isn’t a fan of loud, sudden noises so he would do best in a calm home without small children. He is a very sweet and gentle boy once he’s able to collect his bearings. Snowy does well with other dogs and loves to play with his stuffed animals. We aren’t sure what Snowy’s mixed with, but there’s some suspicion he’s part Corgi due to his large chest and short legs. Whatever his mix is, he’s 100% perfect in our eyes and we hope you see it too! Please inquire today if you're interested in Snowman!

Story
Paso's journey hasn't been easy, but he's a resilient dog with a heart full of untapped potential. Found as a stray and brought to a shelter, Paso faced several challenges, including seizures and reactivity towards shelter staff.Recognizing Paso's need for specialized care, the shelter reached out to us. While he was initially reactive with us too, after being with us for nearly a year now and with plenty of time to decompress and adapt, Paso has become a staff favorite! While he still has some anxiety about meeting new people, given time and patience, he warms up beautifully.Paso's seizure disorder is managed with medication, though he experiences occasional break-through seizures which is normal for his condition. An MRI confirmed he has idiopathic epilepsy, so he will need lifelong medication. His future adopter should be prepared to maintain a close relationship with their vet.Paso's journey has left him with some emotional scars, including a bite history. He needs a patient and understanding person to help him heal and build trust. Due to his history of reactivity, Paso cannot be placed in a home with children.Paso is social and does well with other dogs, especially puppies. He loves showing them how to play and cuddle.Paso is very food motivated and eagerly anticipates mealtime, singing and jumping in excitement. He's also a treat sleuth, so keep an eye on your stash! While Paso's journey has been difficult, he is worth every ounce of effort. With your love, patience, and dedication, Paso can bloom into the loving, faithful companion he's meant to be. If you are that special person willing to give Paso the second chance he deserves, please inquire today!

Story
Introducing Mackenzie, a dog whose journey through life has been a testament to strength and resilience. Found as a stray in Downey, Mackenzie's story began with adversity. Severely emaciated and battling illness, his future seemed uncertain. However, fate intervened when the shelter who impounded him reached out to our rescue for assistance.Under our care, Mackenzie received the medical attention he desperately needed. Initially suspected to have cancer, it was a relief to discover that he was instead grappling with Duodenal reflux or GERD, conditions manageable with the right diet and medication. With this hurdle behind him, Mackenzie is now on the path to recovery.Mackenzie has regained weight and is ready to the find his forever home. While he may appear reserved at first, his gentle demeanor shines through once he warms up to you. A treat or two is all it takes to capture his attention, and soon he'll be seeking you out with his warm gaze, eager for companionship.Mackenzie is a curious soul, always observing his surroundings with a keen eye. He shows great potential for forming deep bonds with his future family, promising unwavering loyalty and companionship. Despite his past hardships, Mackenzie harbors no bitterness, displaying kindness towards both his canine companions and humans alike. With a little patience and understanding, Mackenzie is poised to blossom into the perfect companion. His interactions with other dogs are harmonious, and his interactions with people are gentle and endearing. As he continues to flourish, Mackenzie's future holds the promise of love, warmth, and companionship for those willing to welcome him into their hearts and homes. Please inquire today!

Story
Wendell and Wyla found their way to us after their family's grandson developed allergies. It's clear from Wendell's eyes that these two have faced their share of challenges. Wendell is completely blind due to untreated chronic dry eyes, but he leans on his sister Wyla for guidance and safety.Despite his lack of vision, Wendell is a remarkably friendly and outgoing boy. He’s curious about the world, able to navigate his surroundings with ease, and has an unwavering love for human companionship. Wendell thrives on cuddles and affection, making him a truly special companion.Wyla, with her charmingly long tongue, is a sweetheart who adores people. She has a gentle nature and loves to shower everyone with kisses. Her warmth and playful spirit bring joy to all who meet her. These two have an unbreakable bond and must be adopted together. They find comfort in each other's company, enjoying restful moments, grooming sessions, and plenty of cuddles. Their love for each other is a beautiful reminder of the strength of companionship. Wendell and Wyla love each other so much that there's not much room for another dog in the mix, so they would prefer to be the only two dogs in your life, but a foster-to-adopt situation could be an option if you have another dog at home.We believe that two dogs are better than one, especially when they share such a deep connection. If you're looking for a pair of loving, devoted companions, Wendell and Wyla are ready to fill your home with joy and affection. Please inquire today!

Story
If we had a dollar for every dog labeled as unadoptable and aggressive at the shelter, only to reveal their true sweet, goofy selves later, we’d be rich! Sir Charles might seem hesitant and a little fearful at times, but take a look at his pictures—does he look aggressive to you? No way! We don’t know his full story, but he ended up stuck at the shelter for a month after he was returned by his owner and an adoption fell through at the last minute.Sure, Sir Charles can be a bit unpredictable—he has a strong "alpha" personality and doesn’t always get along with other dogs. He might do okay with mellow dogs or one that can match his high energy. And yes, he’s VERY energetic! He’s also toy possessive and not keen on sharing, so a home with children isn’t ideal for him.Sir Charles has been through a lot and has big feelings to process before he feels completely comfortable. He needs a dedicated owner to help him with training and socialization. With structure and a good routine, he’ll thrive. He’s just like us humans in that way!Estimated to be about four years old, Sir Charles has plenty of time to gain confidence and trust. With the right home and loving care, we’re sure he’ll become the loyal and fun companion you’re looking for. Ready to help Sir Charles shine? Inquire today!

Story
Hi there! My name's Hondo! I was once a wandering soul out there as a stray, and let me tell you, it was a scary world! I ended up at the dog pound, scared and in rough shape with some cuts and scrapes, but thankfully, I found my way to this rescue. Now, I’m all ready to find my forever family, and I can’t wait to meet you!I’m about 6 years old, and while I may have been a little nervous when I first arrived (new things can be a bit scary!), I’ve since found my groove, and my true personality is shining through! I’m sweet, love to cuddle, and I give the best kisses. I may need a bit of time to warm up to new people or environments, but once I do, I’m your loyal buddy!I’m active, too! My foster says I’m full of energy and can keep up with plenty of walks, so an active owner who can take me on daily walks and give me time to play is exactly what I need. I love my walks, and after we go out, I’m always ready to play some more—whether it’s tossing my lambchop toy around or running around the house. I get so much joy from being active! I also walk great on a leash! When it comes to other dogs, I’m a bit more selective. I can be a little overwhelming in large groups or with other dogs that have a different energy than mine, and I’ve stirred the pot a bit at the rescue. I’ve been doing well with other dogs in my foster home, but I think I’d do best as the only dog in my forever home or with a dog that can match my energy level. I’m just a guy who likes things on my own terms sometimes!Another thing to keep in mind is that I’m not the best fit for a home with young children. I can be a little reactive to new people, so a calm, adult home would be ideal for me. I just need a little more space and patience to really feel comfortable in new situations. But, let me tell you, when I’m comfortable, I’m a total sweetie pie. I’m loyal, loving, and full of spunk. I’m also a velcro-pug who loves being near you. I’ll want to curl up on the bed and snuggle as much as I can, and I’ll always be by your side. I’d be perfect for someone who’s retired but loves staying active, or maybe someone who works from home and can give me all the attention I crave. I’ve shown a bit of separation anxiety, so I’ll need a patient family who can help me feel secure when you're away. I’ll need someone who can stick with me while I settle in, especially since I get a little anxious when left alone for long periods. So, if you're looking for a snuggly, active, and super loving buddy who knows exactly what he wants, I'm your guy! Please inquire about me today!Love, Hondo!

Story
Meet Zeus! This lovable brindle-coated pug/frenchie mix (and maybe some boxer?) may only be 27 lbs, but he offers many of the joys of having a big dog, too. His favorite activity is napping with his head on his foster mom's lap, but his second favorite activity is chasing around a tennis ball. He loves to hide it under his bed or some blankets so he can play hide and seek. This keeps him entertained for hours! He also loves long walks where he can sniff new things and meet fellow pup friends. He is very friendly with all people and dogs, and always wants to say hi. He is only about 10 months old, so even though he now has his big boy teeth, he still does playfully mouth a little bit when he gets really happy, excited, or meets new people. Chewing on a bone with peanut butter is one of his favorite special treats. He is fully potty-trained and hasn't had a single accident at his foster family's house! He is also being crate trained and sleeps completely through the night. Every day he is getting more used to being in the crate in the daytime when his foster parents leave (but he'd prefer if they didn't!). His foster grandpa loves him so much that he gifted him a trainer session where he will keep improving at this, as well as learn some other great new skills! He would thrive in a home setting where he can have the space to be his best tennis-ball-loving self, but also receive endless cuddles, pets, and kisses.
