Story
Hello! My name is Polly.  Here is some information about me: Breed: Pug Age: 2 year old Gender: Female Weight: 17.8 lbs Height: TBD  Hello there! My name is Polly, and I'm a sweet little pug, about 2 1/2 years old. I was recently rescued from a scary shelter in California after I was dumped by some awful hoomans, but I’m so happy now! My new foster family has been so kind to me, and they tell me I'm a very special girl. I’ve been working on getting used to everything around here, and I’m ready to find my forever home where I can truly shine. I’m definitely a one-dog kind of gal—although I am not dog agressive, I love being the star of the show! I’ve bonded really closely with my foster parent, but when they’re gone, I do feel a little lonely. I like to stay in my crate and rest, but when they’re home, I love to play, cuddle, and soak up all the attention. I do prefer having all the attention on me, though, so I’d rather not share it with another dog. I’m super good on my walks and have no accidents in the house (unless it was my first day here—I was a little nervous then). I’m still learning the best way to ask to go outside, but I don’t mind hanging out while my foster family gives me a little nudge to do my business. I’m a bit of a foodie, but I’m picky! I prefer to eat smaller amounts throughout the day, so I’d be great if I could have food available all the time. I rarely bark, and I don’t react to other people or dogs—I just keep to myself and do my thing. I’ve had a bit of car sickness, but I’m feeling better with it, and my tummy is sensitive, so I’ve been eating kibble with some yummy cooked food. I can walk 3-4 km without a problem, and I love getting out for a stroll. If you're looking for a loving, playful, and cuddly companion to be your one-and-only dog, then I could be your girl! I'm ready for a forever family who will spoil me with love and attention. Could you be the one to give me the loving home I deserve? Energy Level:  Low Energy I get along with: Dogs: Yes Cats: Unknown Kids: Unknown Fears/Prey Drive:  cautious of new people, sounds Training:  Leash Skills: Some. Please be prepared to continue with my training. Housetrained: Yes.  Please assist me in learning where to go in my new home. Health: I am microchipped, up to date on vaccinations and spayed. My adoption fee is $850 CAD plus applicable taxes which includes my transport to Canada Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. ##2291706##
