Story
Meet Stuart , a 13-lb, 7-year-old chug (Chihuahua/Pug mix)who is ready to find his forever home! Stuart is house trained and rides well in a car.  He loves to walk. He does pull a bit on his leash when he gets excited.   Background: Stuart came into rescue when his family could no longer care for him.  Stuart has lived in a home his entire life and has the house manners of a much loved dog.  Personality : Stuart is an awesome dog.  He is very friendly and has had no issues with any other small dogs  or adults  he has met.  He has never been in a home with young children   but Stuart is a friendly dog so we think he would do well with respectful children.  Stuart does not like big dogs.  Stuart seems to  like cats, but he will  chase them as he loves to run.  Stuart loves to be held and cuddled  and has a rabbit soft fur coat .   He adores attention. Don’t let Stuart's age fool you.  He is active and very athletic.  He not only can jump high but he out runs all of the younger dogs in his foster home.  Health: Stuart is neutered and microchipped and current on his vaccinations. Throughout his life Stuart has had regular medical examinations including  regular dental check ups.  He last had his teeth cleaned in October of 2023.   Ideal Home: Stuart loves to stretch those long legs of his and run at top   speed.  So we are looking to place Stuart in a home with a securely fenced yard.  Stuart also loves to play with other dogs .  A home with another  small  dog or perhaps one where he goes to doggy day care a few times a week  would be ideal.  His adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses as outlined above. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up   .  January 22, 2025, 7:08 pm

Story
Meet Millie, a sweet and sensitive soul who is ready to find a home filled with love and attention. At 3-4 years old, Millie was rescued from Mexico and has blossomed into a gentle, affectionate girl who thrives on human companionship. While she may be timid at first, it doesn't take long for her to warm up to kindness and show her loving personality. Millie absolutely adores people and is happiest when she's by your side or cuddling up in your lap. She craves attention and would likely do best as an only dog, where she can soak up 100% of the love and TLC. Although she's fine with other dogs, especially pugs, Millie doesn't engage in much play with them-she's all about her humans! Millie's favorite activities? Zoomies! When she's excited, this playful girl can't resist a good burst of energy. She's not too interested in toys but will happily zoom around and show her joyful side, especially after some tasty treats like peanut butter hoofs or bully sticks. She also enjoys car rides and loves being wherever her people are, whether that's running errands or just hanging out at home. Smart and eager to please, Millie picked up commands in Spanish during her time in Mexico and would love to continue learning in her forever home. With patience and love, she can learn anything you'd like to teach her. Millie is looking for a home where she can be the center of attention and receive all the love she deserves. If you're looking for a loyal, cuddly companion, Millie will be the happiest girl by your side! Could she be the perfect fit for you?

Story
Meet Axel, the resilient and joyful pug with a spirit that can't be broken! This sweet fawn boy was heartbreakingly left to fend for himself outside the animal control building when there was no space to take him in. Despite his challenging start and hind leg weakness, Axel hasn’t lost his zest for life. His back legs may be a little wobbly, with visible marks on his paws from where he’s struggled to get around, but that doesn’t stop him from enjoying a good chase with his dog buddies. Axel’s ideal forever home would be one ready to support his mobility, perhaps with a set of wheels to help him zoom around and keep his body and mind active! He’s a vocal boy who’ll let you know he misses you when he’s first left alone, but he settles down well in his kennel and is fully aware of potty time—even though he may have a few "oops moments" due to his special needs. With his big heart, playful energy, and incredible resilience, Axel is ready to find a family who’ll give him the love, care, and extra help he needs to thrive. Are you ready to give this amazing pug the forever home he deserves? Axel’s ready to bring boundless joy into your life! Before adoption, Axel will undergo a comprehensive vetting process, which includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and microchipping.

Story
Meet Mattis, the 6-year-old fawn pug who’s just about as close to perfect as they come! 🐾 Surrendered by his previous owner, Mattis is a smart and playful guy who’s ready to find his forever family. He’s got a fun-loving personality and can keep up with the younger pups in his foster home, but he’s also a fan of a cozy nap when the mood strikes. Mattis is currently working on curbing his marking tendencies, but with his intelligence and eagerness to please, his foster is seeing great progress. This well-rounded boy is a delightful mix of energy and chill—a companion who’s always up for an adventure or a cuddle session. If you’re looking for a pug who’s playful, smart, and full of love, Mattis is ready to be your new best friend.
