Story
Meet Stuart , a 13-lb, 7-year-old chug (Chihuahua/Pug mix)who is ready to find his forever home! Stuart is house trained and rides well in a car.  He loves to walk. He does pull a bit on his leash when he gets excited.   Background: Stuart came into rescue when his family could no longer care for him.  Stuart has lived in a home his entire life and has the house manners of a much loved dog.  Personality : Stuart is an awesome dog.  He is very friendly and has had no issues with any other small dogs  or adults  he has met.  He has never been in a home with young children   but Stuart is a friendly dog so we think he would do well with respectful children.  Stuart does not like big dogs.  Stuart seems to  like cats, but he will  chase them as he loves to run.  Stuart loves to be held and cuddled  and has a rabbit soft fur coat .   He adores attention. Don’t let Stuart's age fool you.  He is active and very athletic.  He not only can jump high but he out runs all of the younger dogs in his foster home.  Health: Stuart is neutered and microchipped and current on his vaccinations. Throughout his life Stuart has had regular medical examinations including  regular dental check ups.  He last had his teeth cleaned in October of 2023.   Ideal Home: Stuart loves to stretch those long legs of his and run at top   speed.  So we are looking to place Stuart in a home with a securely fenced yard.  Stuart also loves to play with other dogs .  A home with another  small  dog or perhaps one where he goes to doggy day care a few times a week  would be ideal.  His adoption fee of $350 helps offset the cost of medical expenses as outlined above. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think he could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   helpadogsmile.org/adoption-application .   *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Applications are forwarded to the foster family for review and follow-up   .  February 22, 2025, 4:25 pm

Story
My name is Pepper and I am about 14- week-old puppy: here is my story.  I came into the rescue with my 2 sisters and 1 brother. We were left in a bin at a park. Thank God, someone found us, they took us to this nice rescue.  I love to sit on your lap and getting extra loving but when I am ready for bed, I will put myself to bed and crawl up in my create and fall asleep.  My foster mom says I am an absolute joy to have around. I have lots of energy when playing with my siblings and another young foster dog and get along great with everyone I meet. I am looking for a family where someone is home most of the time to continue with my house training, doggy socialization and to give me lots of love and attention. Pepper is very much a puppy and will need a patient owner whom will work with her on my basic training. While I am an indoor dog, I love the fresh air outside and will need a home with a nice, safe fenced yard to run and play in with my family. I am sorry but I am not suited for apartment/condo living. My last wish for the perfect home would be for my forever family to have another small young dog that I can play with.  My adoption fee is $350 dollars and that includes my vaccinations, a microchip and spay. Please be sure you are ready for the antics of a puppy and a 15+ year commitment when applying. Pepper is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee of $350 helps offset the rescue's medical expenses. If you live in the Phoenix metro area and think she could be the right fit for you, please complete an adoption application*:   Adoption Application - Help A Dog Smile .  *Please note that the application is not a commitment to adopt–it is a tool used to help determine if a dog and applicant would make a good match. Story
Meet Dawes – Your Loyal Little Sidekick! Dawes is a sweet and affectionate pug puppy who is embracing the joys of indoor living! He’s still learning the ropes, but his loving nature shines through in everything he does. He adores being petted, will happily lean into you for affection, and is always eager to be near his favorite people. This friendly boy is wonderful with kids and gets along well with other dogs, greeting them with playful bows and happy tail wags. He’s calm in the car and does well on a leash, though he prefers shorter strolls before settling in for some cuddle time. Dawes is crate trained and making progress on his potty training. He’s learned how to use a doggy door but hasn’t quite connected it with bathroom breaks yet, so he’ll need a patient family to continue guiding him. With consistency and love, he’ll get there in no time! With his big heart and eager-to-please personality, Dawes is ready to become someone’s devoted companion. If you’re looking for a loving little sidekick to share your days with, apply to meet Dawes today!

Story
Meet Denny! 🐾 Looking for a gentle soul with a big heart? Look no further—Denny is your guy! This sweet, affectionate pup is fully potty trained and sleeps peacefully in his crate at night. While he’s not a fan of being crated during the day (he gets pretty drooly and stressed), he’s happy to snooze the night away in his cozy den. Stairs? No problem! Denny handles them like a pro. When it comes to affection, Denny is all in. He absolutely adores being loved on and will lean into your touch, soaking up all the cuddles he can get. He’s gentle and loving with kids, both respectful and affectionate, and he enjoys their company without getting overwhelmed. Denny is a social butterfly with other dogs—friendly, playful, and confident. He thrives around canine companions and would love a home where he has a buddy or two. He’s curious but respectful around cats, showing calm interest without any aggression. He does show signs of mild separation anxiety, especially when crated during the day or left alone. He may drool or pace a bit, but with a patient and understanding family, he’s likely to continue building his confidence and security. No resource guarding here—Denny’s as easygoing as they come when it comes to sharing space, toys, or food. In the car, Denny can be a bit restless and curious, but with time and practice, he could grow into a great co-pilot. On leash, he’s eager and confident—ready to sniff out adventure with his person by his side. Denny is looking for a home that can offer him consistency, affection, and maybe a playful dog sibling to pal around with. He’s the kind of dog who will return your love tenfold and bring joy to every day. Are you ready to meet your new best friend? 🐶💛

Story
🖤 Uno – The Gentle Snoozer 🖤 Uno may be a senior, but she’s still got plenty of love to give! This sweet girl spends most of her day snoozing and cuddling, making her the perfect companion for a calm and quiet home. Though she’s blind, Uno navigates her space well with just a few minor bumps along the way. She LOVES crinkly toys and perks up at the sound of a treat bag—she’ll even sit before you ask! Uno is on daily anxiety medication due to her current lively household, but in a quieter home, she may not need as much. She prefers to be the only dog since it takes her a long time to warm up to new pups. She’ll let you know when she smells another dog, which can sometimes make introductions tricky. She’s an early riser and early-to-bed kind of gal, does great with the groomer and vet, and is fully kennel trained—often retreating to her crate with the door open for comfort. Uno does need her food portioned out, as free feeding leads to overeating. While her remaining eye has been recommended for removal, it no longer causes issues. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving companion who enjoys the simple things in life, Uno is your girl! 🖤
