Story
Meet Sprocket, a 4-year-old Poodle mix with a big personality and a heart full of potential. Sprocket has had a rough start and comes with a history of reactivity and biting. He’s a scared dog who needs a firm, experienced owner to help him feel secure and establish boundaries. Sprocket has had training sessions and responds well to clear, consistent leadership. Once he knows you’re in charge, he’s much more relaxed and doesn’t push back. However, he does react to new people and should wear a muzzle during initial introductions for safety. Despite his challenges, Sprocket has no health issues and thrives on affection from his trusted person. He enjoys being cuddled and will show his sweet side once he’s built trust. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a structured, loving environment, Sprocket could be a rewarding companion. He’s looking for someone who can help him overcome his fears and show him the love and stability he deserves.

Story
Angel is a friendly, smart, playful, and protective dog who is fiercely loyal to those she knows and loves. She is a female adult dog who is about 4 years old. She is very affectionate and loves to cuddle up with her favorite people. She can be a bit independent at times, but always loves a good belly rub and a nice walk. She is very energetic and loves to play and run around. She can be a bit nervous around new people and dogs in the beginning, so would prefer to be the only dog in the household so that she can have all the love and attention to herself. She is a wonderful dog who would be a great addition to any family who is looking for a fun, loyal, and loving companion. If you think you can give Angel the loving home she deserves, please come meet her today! Please text 714-882-9865 and complete the application online at www.rescuemepets.com/forms

Story
***COURTSEY POST*** Meet Willow. This 1 year old 40lb Standard Poodle was found matted, covered in urine and fleas living near a homeless encampment. The amazing Sandra (@compton_paw_patrol) tried to find her family (she was not microchipped or spayed when found) with no luck after weeks of searching. We got her groomed, spayed, microchipped, and vaccinated and now she is settling beautifully into her foster home. Willow is sweet, gentle, housetrained and crate trained. She is great with dogs, people, and children! She is on the search for her forever family! Contact loveleorescue@gmail.com for more information! PLEASE, do not contact Bichons and Buddies as we do not have the dog and are posting as a courtesy for this wonderful rescue group Love Leo.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2025, 6:15 pm

Story
Matisse von Marseille is a pure black 3 year old Standard Poodle with a long list of wonderful qualities. Before we share all the amazing things about him, we need to explain that Matisse can become protective in a home. He needs an adult home with someone who knows how to adjust to a dog who needs a pack leader, so he doesn’t feel he needs to protect his people. Our trainer can work with someone willing to learn how to set boundaries for Matisse. At the rescue, he is the perfect dog. He does so well with the structure there with no hint of a problem. He is great in the play group with other dogs and avoids any problems. He is also good meeting everyone. He is so happy and charming, always ready to go out on walks with the staff and other dogs. He is perfect on the leash. In a home, he needs a more controlled environment, so he feels “responsible to you, not for you”. Matisse is super housebroken, knows his commands like "sit", "down", "paw". He can self-entertain himself with his toys and balls, especially with his favorite soccer ball. He is loving and affectionate, but needs people who don’t smother him with affection until the boundaries are set. He sleeps through the night in his crate or would be prefectly fine on a big fluffy bed next to yours. Matisse has so many great qualities and will be the perfect dog in a home with the right owner with whom he will thrive and be a model canine citizen. He is so worth the effort. He asked us to add that he has an aversion to cats, so no kitties please. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN Matisse von Marseille YOU MUST FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE: www.sheprescue.org Application link: http://www.sheprescue.org/Application_to_Adopt_a_Dog%20Main.html Based on our experience, Westside's current thinking is to usually match first-time shepherd owners with a mix versus a purebred shepherd. Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.

Story
Jessie is a happy little dog and is enjoying her life as a lap dog. She is a miniature poodle and is about 8 years old and weighs 16 lbs. She walks great on a leash and rides well in the car. She sleeps quietly in her crate all night and is a late sleeper and she actually has to be woken her up in the morning sometimes. She loves her beauty sleep! She is housebroken and will go outside on her own to do her business but still likes for me to go outside with her.  She knows her sit command and is learning how to take treats gently. (She gets overly excited for a treat and will try to grab it but she is doing better with this every day!) We think Jessie would be best in a home as the only Princess. She is fine with other dogs on walks and what not but would prefer to be the center of your world. She is currently fostered with another dog but will try to monopolize all of her fosters times and pets and push the other dog out of the way. So we think she would be happiest as an only child. She also gets scared when she is scolded for doing something wrong, which isn’t very often, but she will cower and growl. We think this comes from the fact that she was just used as a backyard breeder and then was tossed out like garbage on the streets and had to fend for herself for a good long while. We believe she just needs time and consistency to know she is safe and no one will ever hurt her again. But for this reason, we will not place her in a home with children less than 12 either. Jessie is a wonderful little dog that will make a wonderful companion to someone who understand her sensitive nature and just wants a companion to hang out with and go on slow walks through the neighborhood and watch tv in the recliner at night! If this sounds like you, then please reach out and meet this special girl!!Our adoptions are restricted to residents within 30 miles of the South Bay area of Los Angeles. We do not ship animals or do long distance adoptions. See our adoption policies for more details on our adoption process. Bean is a 50 pound standard poodle that we acquired from a breeder. He is a great dog. Loves other humans in particular. Unfortunately, due to a family emergency we are no longer able to care for him. He doesn’t shed but does require grooming because of this. He enjoys fetch, the dog park, dog beach, hikes, tug of war, licking faces, and other activities. He knows sit along with a couple other words (especially with a treat). Please forgive me for any spelling mistakes. I am typing on mobile. We are open to re homing and fostering.
