Story
Meet Gunner, a 3 1/2 -year-old male Husky mix.Gunner is a fun boy with a cool personality. He has a slightly shortened tail which is unusual for a Husky and very eye catching. Gunner loves getting out in the park and is a talkative chap. He wants an adopter that wants a conversationalist and finds Husky drama to be amusing. Gunner was trotting along and didn’t realize we had stopped and when he hit the end of the leash he absolutely flopped on the ground and rolled around, making sure we were watching to know how much we had inconvenienced him. Once we tugged and told him we were walking in a new direction all perceived slights were forgotten and he was ready to explore again! Gunner enjoys hanging out with dogs in the back yard area, his new favorite playmate is Chip. He would be a great candidate for a home with another dog or would be fine as an only dog. This boy loved getting out of the shelter and going for a car ride down to the coffee stand. He rode well in the front seat and loved hanging his head out the window taking in all the new sights. He had his first `Pup-a-chino` and absolutely loved it. He got to go explore a Police Department and meet the officers which he abosolutely adored doing. Like most Huskies, Gunner wants to explore and is going to need a yard that has a tall fence to keep him safe. He spent most of his photo shoot acting like the photographer was in his way and telling her all about it. He does like pets and is interested in treats too. Gunner was with us for almost a year before being adopted out in February of 2024. Gunner was brought in as a stray in October of 2024 and when we contacted his owners we were told he was out of state and to put Gunner up for adoption. Our heart hurt for this boy to be back with us and we can only hope that this time he will be adopted to his forever family. Gunner will be available for adoption on 10/05/2024.If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received.A Picture says 1000 words…right? While an animal’s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90%

Story
Meet Freddy, a 3 1/2 -year-old male Husky mix.Freddy is an absolutely stunning boy who seems to know it as he prances as he walks. This boy is a joy to be around with his happy, outgoing personality. Freddy is very treat motivated and will “sit” on command. He is still working on the command “down” but in true Husky fashion he does it on his own when he really wants something but doesn’t always do it on command. Freddy has met multiple dogs in the play yard and has done well with them; he enjoys a good game of chase every now and then but otherwise will just enjoy sniffing around in companionable silence. We still require a meet and greet with other dogs in the home to make sure everyone get along and as with all animals there is an adjustment period where they learn each others boundaries and they shouldn’t be left alone together right away. Freddy has proven the kitties are too tempting for him to leave alone so he would do best in a home with no cats and probably no chickens. Freddy is a goober of a boy and if you are as taken by his looks as we are you should definitely come meet him in person. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Roman, a 5 and a half -year-old male Husky mix.Roman was abandoned at our front gate, thankfully nothing bad happened to him since we are right next to a busy highway. We called him microchipped owners but they stated they had rehomed him and didn’t have contact info for the new owners. Roman is a very typical husky with a goober personality. He loves to go on walks and does a little jump when he gets excited to start going somewhere. He is all about the attention, toys and treats. He will happily do “sit” and “down” for treats and then look at you expectantly for a reward. Unlike other Huskies Roman enjoys getting into the kiddie pool during hot summers, he is a blast! We love Roman’s outgoing personality and know you will to. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
