Story
Iris is a striking male husky mix with captivating blue eyes and unique heterochromia—one of his eyes even boasts two colors! He is three years old and 67 pounds. His rescue story began one cold winter night when his foster mom was driving. She saw a dog looking homeless and hungry and eating scraps of trash out of a parking lot. It was heartbreaking. She knew right then and there she had to help this poor dog so she rushed home and gathered up fleece blankets and dog food and hoped he would still be there when she went back. He was. He was cautious, but he watched from afar as she placed the blankets and food down for him. She drove away and later came back to find him nestled up in a ball on the fleece blankets. He was so timid and scared, but after hours she earned his trust and took him home. He was immediately grateful and sweet. Now it’s time for this sweet boy to find a forever home. Iris is gentle, low energy, loves squeaky toys, and is crate and potty trained.  He enjoys being pet and has become a bit of a couch potato. Iris would do best with a family that is patient and understanding and see how much he has blossomed. When he becomes scared, he looks for reassurance. He is very submissive and takes well to any verbal correction. No cats for Iris, he’s not a fan but he is dog friendly and shares his home with other dogs. Iris would love to be home snuggled next to you.  Age: 3 years   Weight: 68 lb   Temperament: good with dogs, not yet tested with young kids    Training: House trained, crate trained .    Vetting: neutred, up to date on vaccines, HW negative     For questions, please email:   sonaligokhale@yahoo.com  &#226&#128&#139   To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Once your application is approved, we will bring the adoptable pet to your home for a preliminary visit. Story
Eva is a two year old, 62# Husky girl. She is likely not 100% Husky but her temperament and personality are very characteristic of the breed. She is spunky, playful, talkative, and has never met a stranger. Eva is active without being over-the-top in terms of energy level and settles well in the house with sufficient exercise. Being a husky, she can also be mischievous and a bit of a Houdini, though she is not destructive. With dogs she can be a bit domineering and is what I would classify as a “rude greeter”. Meaning, her body language when meeting new dogs can be a bit antagonistic and she has needed some coaching on how to interact more politely. Once she is acquainted with a dog, she is largely a gracious playmate and confidante, although she typically prefers male dogs. Not that I ever really condone dog parks except in special circumstances, but she is definitely not a dog park or commercial doggy daycare candidate. I also would not recommend her to a home with small animals or very young children. Eva has been bounced around a bit in her short life and would love to find her forever family. She walks well on leash, has good name recall, and knows basic obedience commands. She is also spayed, chipped, and up to date.

Story
Meet Doug – A Spirited Companion with Lots of Love to Give! Doug is a vibrant and energetic pup looking for an active and patient home to help him thrive. This lively dog is food-motivated (always ready to earn treats!) and loves adventures, from car rides with the windows down to bracing walks in the cold and wind. His high energy and curiosity mean he needs plenty of exercise, mental stimulation, and sturdy toys like Nylabones or balls to keep him entertained. While Doug is working on his manners, he’s already made great strides. He’s learning leash etiquette, settling into his crate with a little help from white noise and a cozy setup, and becoming more confident in his potty training. He’s fantastic at passing people on walks and even stopping to say hello! However, his excitement can sometimes lead to nipping or vocalizing when he needs attention, so he’d do best with someone ready to guide him with structure and clear boundaries. At home, Doug loves enrichment activities like lick mats and Kong toys and enjoys chilling with a seatbelt leash in the car. He’s adapting to life indoors but still needs support in avoiding counter surfing and feeling confident when left alone. On the bright side, he’s unfazed by loud noises like thunder, sirens, or household sounds, making him a resilient and adaptable companion. If you’re looking for a spirited and affectionate pup who’s eager to learn and full of potential, Doug might just be your perfect match. With consistent training, exercise, and love, he’ll reward you with endless joy and loyalty. Come meet him and see if he’s the right fit for your home!
