Story
This is Cali. She is a 4 year old Pomsky. She is energetic and extremely loving. We are looking for a home for her where she can be the center of attention and have lots of space to run. She has gotten into a few fights with our smallest dog (a BichPoo) and recently bit her. She really is the sweetest dog but needs to be with a family who can give her all the love. We do have small kids that she has always been great with but ideally we think she would thrive in a new home with no kids. With all her energy she needs to be taken on walks and allowed to run as much as possible. Having property for her to run would be ideal. We really want her to go to someone who can give her the love and time that we couldn’t.

These pups are in San Francisco, California too!

Story
Gilbert Grape is 3-6 years old and 13 pounds. Gilbert is a joy! He is active, as expected for a Spitz breed, but can settle down when there isn't anyone around to play with. He loves playing with other dogs, and would be great in a home with another dog. He is totally house trained and knows how to use a dog door. He is always ready for a walk and doesn't bark at others while out; he does pull on leash. He is very sweet with his people and he meets new people well. He would be fine in a home with older children. He does bark when his people leave and might not be a good apartment dog, but does not actually have separation anxiety. Gilbert is believed to be a full Pomeranian by people who know the breed. His ideal home will have experience taking care of a Pomeranian coat, because Gilbert's fur is gorgeous now. If not experienced, then someone that wants to learn. Gilbert had cherry eye (prolapse of the third eyelid gland) when he came to us, but it has been surgically corrected. Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Gilbert is $500. If you are interested in adopting Gilbert, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area. Story
Appa is a loving Siberian Husky. He just celebrated his second birthday in July. I purchased Appa from a litter in August of 2022. His mom and dad were show dogs, and his siblings all look just like him. It breaks my heart to have to rehome Appa, but at the age of 24 with all of the working and traveling I do, Appa does not get the attention he needs. I just moved into a small one bedroom apartment in SF and spend 8+ hours away each day. When I get home, i'm exhausted and poor Appa just wants to run around. He deserves a home where he can do that throughout the day in a backyard or just someone who works from home and can give hime the attention he needs. I am also constantly traveling, and have spent thousands of dollars boarding him that I can no longer afford. He is such a good boy- just a bratty personality like all huskies. I'm hoping I can rehome him local in the Bay Area so I can still visit him from time to time. I love you Appa. Adoption includes large dog crate and leash.

Story
Alvie is a perfect blend of adventure and calm. He loves bike rides, walks, and exploring new places, yet he has a laid-back nature, often content to sit at your feet while you work. Loyal and comforting, he’s the kind of dog who will quietly stay by your side, making him an excellent companion. He walks well on a leash and enjoys getting his legs wet at the beach, showing off his adventurous spirit. Despite his independence, he’s also a big fan of snuggling next to your feet, offering both comfort and affection. With his stoic, regal demeanor, Alvie is an old soul who will become your loyal shadow once he trusts you. He takes treats with gentle care and his favorite snack is string cheese. Alvie is smart and responds well to guidance & structures. While he doesn’t require a husky-savvy owner, he would thrive best with someone experienced in handling dogs. From Alvie's foster dad: Alvie loves running or biking with his human. He comes back with a happy face every time. He is very responsive to obedience training. He knows sit, wait, heel, here, leave it and no. He prefers to meet other dogs slowly. Once he trusts you, he will be your ride or die. He has very good leash manners once awhile he just needs some "reminders". Alvie is crate and muzzle trained, with no signs of separation anxiety. However, due to his high prey drive, we don’t recommend placing him in a home with small animals. If you’re looking for a loyal, adventurous, and loving companion, Alvie is your perfect match.
