Story
This is Cali. She is a 4 year old Pomsky. She is energetic and extremely loving. We are looking for a home for her where she can be the center of attention and have lots of space to run. She has gotten into a few fights with our smallest dog (a BichPoo) and recently bit her. She really is the sweetest dog but needs to be with a family who can give her all the love. We do have small kids that she has always been great with but ideally we think she would thrive in a new home with no kids. With all her energy she needs to be taken on walks and allowed to run as much as possible. Having property for her to run would be ideal. We really want her to go to someone who can give her the love and time that we couldn’t.

Story
About Yuki: We adopted Yuki from the Milpitas Animal Shelter, HSSV, 7 years ago. She is currently 7 going on 8. Estimated born in July. She is up to date on her shots, Spayed, and within normal weight range. She is house trained. In true husky fashion, if you forget to let her out or spend time, she will "talk" with you to remind you. Yuki is a very energetic husky mix. She loves people and gets very exciting when meeting new people. She behaves like she is a smaller dog and is very submissive around other dogs her size. Yuki does know basic commands: Sit, Stay, Come, Back, Paw, Down. She does have a high prey drive. Squirrels or small critters (non dogs) make her want to chase them. Reason for Rehome: Due to job and life changes, we are living in conditions that are unfavorable for a dog of her size and breed. We are seeking a family that is more active and/or has a larger capacity for attention to give her.

Siberian Husky

Male, 4 yrs 2 mos
Mountain View, CA

(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Three years old, neutered, and was a rescue; it takes some time for him to earn your trust; he is strong and sometimes pulls on leashes when walking. He has typical stubborn husky behavior; no cats or small animals, and no kids under 14, please, due to his mouthy and nipping behavior, and his bite is strong; sometimes you will bleed if you force him, so do not! Always ask for his permission before patting him, especially when he is lying down, which is the most vulnerable position for an outdoor animal like him during his earlier life when he was left outside 24/7 in the yard with a lack of socialization and human interaction. He can stay by himself for around 4 to 6 hours, but remember that Husky is a pack animal, which is not recommended for more than 2 hours. When leaving him alone, you need to lock him outside or create a safe zone for him inside the house; just like most huskies, they will start to be destructive and chew when bored. Generally, after three years old, they will begin to calm down. He was never crate trained, rides decent in the car, but makes lots of exciting noise! Trial adoption is recommended; feel free to see if he fits your family, I need to find him a good home, so I do not mind taking him back if things do not go well with the adoption.

Story
Charlie, a beautiful white German shepherd mix, is calm and curious but apprehensive about the shelter environment. When getting him out of his kennel for a walk, he is excited to see you and eagerly exits the kennel with you. In the yard, he approaches with a wagging tail to solicit treats but does not allow petting. He will let you know he is uncomfortable by giving a little growl. He loves treats, and he appears to be potty trained! When walking through the kennel room, Charlie likes to stop and say hi to the little male chihuahua next door and other polite neighbors while ignoring the barky and rude ones. Charlie needs a patient and experienced foster willing to work with him and who can use positive reinforcement training methods to help him feel more comfortable handling his situation.
