Story
Daisy is so full of spunk - you would never know this girl is deaf and mostly blind due to her age. She loves a fenced yard and will play bow to you for a good game of chase. She is always ready to run and enjoys short walks on a leash where she can take time smelling all the smells - her sense of smell is heightened. She even chased a squirrel up a tree this past week on a leashed walk, much to our surprise. She was delighted at her success! She is a smart girl and has checked that tree every day since to see if her squirrel is still there. She is quick to map out her foster house so she knows how to safely get around despite her vision limitations and uses a ramp to go up and down the two stairs in the home. She will need an adoptive home that has limited to no stairs or stairs that are safely blocked off so she cannot access them. Because she cannot see well, she doesn't get on the furniture and is nervous when picked up. She has a variety of beds on the floor to choose from for snuggling. Daisy is a Christmas baby. She was born on Christmas day and will be 16 years old this December. She is fixed, current on vaccinations, and had full bloodwork. She just had a dental cleaning and had her last 3 infected teeth removed. She is happy, healthy, and toothless. She has the very early stages of kidney disease - she shows no symptoms but bloodwork indicated this, so she eats a wet food kidney diet. Given her age, the kidney disease isn't unexpected and doesn't impact her life. An adopter will be sent home with 6 months of food for her. Like any dog her age, she takes a daily pain medication to manage her arthritis - this prescription can be purchased on Chewy. This tiny, 9-pound girl is housebroken. She prefers to go outside in a yard if possible but will use a pee pad if absolutely needed. We would love to see her have a house with a fenced yard because she enjoys being outdoors and running around a yard, and a fence will keep her safe given her limited vision. She is loyal and will wait at the door for you to return home from work, quick with a tail wag and ready for a pet. She has successfully lived with other dogs and could do so again with dogs that are respectful to her and understand that she can't read dog behavior that she can't see. She has also lived successfully with a cat. Daisy came to our rescue after her owner died. Our rescue's mission is to assist terminally ill people with finding new families for their pets. We know there is someone out there that is senior dog savvy or has experience with vision impaired or deaf dogs that wants to show Daisy some love at the end of her life. Story
Chip is once again looking for his new home Chip has been adopted twice and returned so we are going to try it one more time. Each time Chip has been bounced from home to home he becomes ever more unsettled and its really not fair to him. He is confused and hasn’t had enough time to get into a routine. I will be very honest in the type of home Chip needs. Although it may take time to find just the right family, we as a rescue want his next placement to be his forever home.  He is a very special boy with some special requirements and needs. A potential adopter should have zero expectations for Chip as this will set him up for failure. Medical: Chip has had a full medical workup. Parrett Veterinary Clinic to rule out any medical. We did a full bloodwork panel and urinalysis along with x-rays. He has been cleared for adoption physically.  He has been neutered and vaccinated, on prevention and has a Bordatella.   Behaviorally: What I've observed in my home is that Chip wants to have things his way. He can also be a pretty fearful dog.  We believe that this goes back in time before Chip ever came into rescue and it will be important for Chip’s new family to enroll in confidence classes and help continue his confidence at home as well as open up his world to new things.  We are seeking a family who can be respectful of chip and his bubble. Even after an adjustment time of 3 weeks to 3 months he is still a quirky dog and doesn’t always appreciate love and affection.  He is happy to tell you he has had enough politely but will escalate if you don’t listen to him. His cues are very noticeable, and we can go into these in more details to set his new home up for success. Let's talk about what Chip needs to succeed in a new home and environment. He needs an Adult/teenage only home. If children come to visit, they must be respectful of him and his space. Chip is great with cats. Dogs need to be coexisters. We have seen Chip play with dogs in his previous home but he takes time to feel comfortable to be able to play with them. Chip is really a very easy going dog when he is left to just dog. Let him go at his pace. Lastly, If your still reading then you might be just the person Chip needs. Here is what you can expect the first few weeks. Chip will drag a leash 24/7. Chip is housebroken and crate trained but sometimes he doesn’t like to go out and so guiding him with a leash until he is in a routine is best. Fenced required. No electric/underground fencing allowed. Once comfortable Chip will turn sideways for you to pick him up. He will also jump on the couch to sit by you. This could take a couple months, but oh the reward when it happens. Basically, this is all on CHIPS TIME. He is not a needy dog so don't expect that from him. If you are interested please fill out an application at www.trackingintheshadows.com.  Please live within 1 hour of Cassopolis, MI.  All pets in the home must be up to date on vaccines spayed/neutered, and receive monthly heartworm prevention.  ##1986346##

Story
Pauline Pom Pom came to us from a breeder where he was relinquished by no fault of his own. This is a nice boy who is good with other dogs & with people. He is very sweet but would benefit from some basic obedience and confidence building. His  birth date is 07/01/24 and he currently weighs 5#.  He has been vet. checked, neutered, micro chipped, is up to date on routine shots & wormings including rabies, and has been treated with flea & heart worm preventative per our protocol. His adoption donation is $800 and needs to be cash, certified check, money order or a debit/credit card. There is a 3% processing fee when using a debit/credit card. Please note that any additional funding collected for this pet goes back into our medical acct. to provide for other dogs in need. We do not ship or transport. Please email for an application if you would like to provide this nice kid with his forever home. ##2214601##
